Zippy, Go very careful on this. tyre blowing off the rim on the road would be dangerous. Road tires that are designed for tubeless are made to be used at lower pressures than standard road tires

I was reading something in CX magazine about going tubeless on a crosser. Opinion seems very divided ... fine with a tubeless specific tyre but very hit and miss when going ghetto.

I'm now back on tubes ... enough air to keep the tyre fully inflated made me nervous of another 'incident' but much less and the tyre wouldn't always stay seated on rough stuff :?

Cheers for the heads up Kev,

The fit seems very good - no effort with a track pump to get it up, and I've done some testing (hitting kerbs straight on much harder than I should) and all seems sound. It is a Bonty TLR rim, so the only ghetto bit really is that I'm not using the official bonty rim tape and valve on it - and er the non tubeless tyre

I'd also inflated to 130psi when it blew off - lesson learnt :geek: It's at 80psi now...

I'll take it easy and see how it goes.

Well technically it was 0 when it blew off, bit prior to that it was 130, trying to get it to seat.... Clearly a bit too much!

Made it on my 30 min commute to work, no dramas, tyre felt good and all still inflated. Jobs a carrot so far :-)
