Be interested to hear how you get on with the harness. I was thinking about buying couple of revelate harnesses but recently received a couple of alpamayo feed bags - very impressed with the quality and value so I've paused to consider my options.PeterC wrote:On a spending spree!
A very nice package from Backcountry in Aviemore containing Revelate Pika and Jerrycan, Alpamayo front harness, front accessory bag and a small frame bag. All tried out on bike and fits well, though a bit of jiggling with cables required.

Re: The post man's been ...
Nice to get some carbon I can appreciate as the only other stuff I've received lately was the bit holding my neck in the right place.
I've also got a crazy new stem 50mm with a 30 degree rise! Soon to be on my bike and ready for some gentle test rides :)

Re: The post man's been ...
Good stuff Wenchie - about being back on the bike
My front wheel with SON hub arrived having been built up by Mark at Spokesman wheels, and a few spokes to replace the bent ones in my back wheel. Just waiting for a carbon mech cage now (to make me faster) - and despite what Zippy and InReverse say this is actually faster, not a placebo effect....

My do everything commuter/explorer bike has morphed into this after a frame swap and a few visits from the postman.
Off to find a circuitous route to the asian supermarket tomorrow. Need curry.

A very small towel arrived yesterday. Impressive service from The Climber's Shop in Ambleside, opted for economy postage, arrived overnight!
Re: The post man's been ...
A mysterious box arrived today containing a book:
"Eat Bacon, Don't Jog - get strong, get lean, no bullshit" by Grant Petersen
Box also contained, presumably for balance, a bottle of red wine for 1 and a double decker.
All was explained with the Bear Bones Bikepacking water bottle from the church and chapel event I couldn't make

That'll be your photo comp prize. I read his first book and found it interesting, I thought you might find this one to be too."Eat Bacon, Don't Jog - get strong, get lean, no bullshit" by Grant Petersen

Not got a photo of it yet, but the postman brought a lovely forme bikes Ripley courtesy of the half price sale at start fitness....
Very blue and Shiny, first complete new mountain bike I've bought in about 12 years! Photo almost certainly to follow soon, complete with frame bag and revelate sweetroll bar bag.

A couple of sram cassettes to 1x11 both the OHs and my nice bikes when the winter is finished.
Yesterday it wasn't the postman but I stopped for a coffee in a local bike shop/cafe job where i was persuaded into buying a half price stolen goat orkaan waterproof jersey thing. Not warm enough to wear it at the moment but it seems well made!

Some DT BR710 rims for my fat bike. Very nice and much lighter than the originals.
Just ordered some JRA hubs to lace them up to. Bit of a punt but all fat bike hubs seem to have mixed review apart from DT, and the don't make a hub to fit my bike.

Or rather a large lorry with new 3000l rainwater tank.
May have over specified the tank size but as Mariner Lawns is about to become Mariner Forest with 30 (at the last count) new trees need to keep them alive for a couple of years to get established.

A lovely replacement for my exped mat, two baffles popped apart after a couple of years use.
Luckily they exchanged it for me so I have a shiny new one - will attempt to venture out soon and use it :)

Is that the same charred finish that was in the news recently linked to cancer?!Richard G wrote:...and a big bastard blowtorch for that delicious charred finish...
I was assured my Thermomix was the future of cooking... Turns out it just converts any ingredients to baby food! Be interested to know how you get on with this.

Yup, I find if you don't get a good chance of cancer from your red meat then you're doing it wrong.
Re: The post man's been ...
Just made (and cancerified) a decent chunk of sirloin. Maybe went a little past where I wanted it, medium rather than medium rare, but good god it was good.
I wont lie, I had a ton of fun with the blow torch too.
Edit - Just made this missus one too. "Mightily tender".
