Every day's a Friday for me...........
I can very highly recommend early retirement.
If you are in 2 minds about doing it and if you can afford it, do it.

No more Monday dread (even when I enjoyed my job)

Survived Friday! Drove to Wembley, caught the overground, had a swim, went to IKEA and brought jam, didn't loose the kids, drove home. Knackered.

Quite right too. Hopefully they'll bin the previous gov's insistence that they'd only fund "complete new direct segregated routes", which excluded a lot of useful "fill in" and "cut through" bits of infrastructure.

Sheffield Heeley's MP? Is she yours, Bear?

Yup. We've also got Ed Clancey as the Active Travel Commissioner for S. Yorks, who seems to have enlisted the services of Emily Chappell to help with PR.

I'll bet yours was the vote that clinched her win  . Looking forward to seeing some big bike infrastructure next time I'm up seeing me daughter...

Yay, it's Cheery Friday today, and the day when finally, after several weeks of being back and forth and gradually building up time in Brynmawr whilst supporting Mr Z to recover from his hospitalisation back to, literally, rude health, and introducing him to the dark arts of using the telephone, online food shopping, and a few other life skills, I get to officially move to Brynmawr today :-bd , into the tiny terraced cottage where I can lie on the floor in the front room, and if I stretch out fully, touch both sides of the whole house

Visitors welcome

Now that's got me thinking about what we could do on SWWB ... might need to attach a couple of 750ml bottle cages to the bike though

Just knocked off work for a week so very cheery!

Was meant to be doing a Badger Divide variation but the weather looks shocking for Saturday evening and Sunday en-route so after much procrastination, got myself a bike space on a train to Aviemore for tomorrow afternoon. Got a few options but likely a variation on the Moray triangle, as the weather up there is looking OK, with an option to drink beer at my mates place if the weather goes pear shaped. Hopefully score some beach time and lots of pubs and cafes.

May then pedal home via some suitable route but may also get a train....

But before all that, Beer!

Five days off, which isn’t as much as John :| Oh well

Got a free day tomorrow, either walking or biking in the hills, but I get the car* for the day :-bd

Not sure what I’ve got planned for the rest of the week but hopefully sometime with mini-voodoo

Good luck Verena with the move

Just been to see my mum in hospital and she's doing well. Was planning to get a bivi in this weekend but a flight south instead and now to see what she's got in the fridge that needs eating up.

Was an absolute hoolie here early this morning, quite a few villages round about have been without power, slowly eased off during the day and it's positively sunny now!

Did see videos on the Moray Triangle on YT (Always Another Adventure) and it looked a pleasant enough route. Not an area I know at all well, think I've been on the bit between Aviemore and Boat of Garten and that's it. Can't even remember any childhood holidays out that way.

It's all extremely pleasant Bob, with some good riding in parts to boot. Unlike a lot of routes in Scotland there is also a surfeit of places to get food and drink, plus Moray is about the driest place north of Watford

From an earlier go....

If you'd like to assimilate in to the community, there used to be a Welsh folk dancing group in Brynmawr. Run by Aunty Jessie - she'd been leader for donkeys years. Not my sort of group - they took it all too seriously for my liking. Too competition orientated.

On a different note, August BaM in progress, near Dolgellau. Mawddach trail to Barmouth tomorrow, for chips and ice cream.

Interesting... hmm, seriously competitive folk dancing, not convinced that's quite my cuppa either tbh...

Mawdach trail, lovely, enjoy!!

Currently utterly defeated by the door hinges on the sideboard I'm trying to assemble...have spent a ridiculous amount of time trying, they just won't fit...would like to think it's not me being thick...

Have visitors over the weekend though, perhaps they can work it out...after a few beers

I suppose yesterday was cheery. Drove back from Scotland, but lost 5th gear (and reverse it turns out) just South of Grantham, but made it home without having to call on recovery. No idea if I have any working gears, as it appears on inspection that the car is having a bit of a wee...
