yep yours is definitely a good weight! I suppose I err on the side of reliability with wheel builds...Arch is mid-weight, DT comps, brass nips. I deliberated for a while over 19 or 18t but went for 19t in the end. This'll go on the bike for stuff like the Highland Trail etc, and realistically I'm gonna need 19 on steep rides like that. Will keep an 18 on the Selma for other stuff.

A large piece of hexagonal cuben turned up this morning just as I was leaving the house. Looks quite bulky, but is stuffed into its bag without much thought to pack size. Hopefully by folding and rolling it might go down a bit smaller. More to follow once I've put it up.

I believe 120cm is a good starting point for cuben Trailstars.

Not strictly from postie but picked up this weekend. 20in Pugs with Rolling Darryls, Endo/Larry combo and a new pair of Husker Du 120tpi tyres. The rims are with Phil, the tame wheel builder ready to go onto a Surly SS front and Alfine8 rear. Everything else is in the man cave awaiting construction. Once the frame is prepped, headset fitted and frame saver applied I am hoping it will be ready to ride by first week in JAN.

Looking forward to using it. Phd initailly sent a 500 by mistake. That is a cosy sleeping bag. Almost wished i'd kept it for the bivvy this weekend. Blooming chilly here in the Borders.

A delivery from PhD turned up yesterday and in it was a minimus vest @ 145g and a slightly custom minimus 300 bag with 900 fill power down and drishell outer @ sub 480g. In addition to the Klymit inertia frame my set up's now 700g lighter than it was at the BB200 and substantially lower volume - result !!

Seat post (cheap twelfty), cassette tool, merino beanie and Dennis the Menance style merino socks from On One.

The beanie is delightful being a good fit and light weight of wool, probably for kipping in. The socks, though not as immediately toasty (or likely to wear through as soon as you look at them) as previous On One incarnations are proving to have that special merino "warm as soon as they're on" effect.

Shiftmate from SJS Cycles so my Campag shifters & derailleur works with shimano cogs/freehub.....



I have been using special cassette spacers but am only getting hack bike quality shifting and I want near perfect gear changes on my nice newish, disc brake equipped road bike. Hopefully the shiftmate will perform.

I used to run a cross bike with campag centaur but a shimano wheel and used an American classic conversion cassette. Shifting was very close to being as slick as my other wheel with a proper campag cassette on

Depends on the bike / tube. Easier than might be expected (though admittedly unlikely given the pig-iron O-O use for their steel frames ). Clamping by the seat post is accepted good practice of many folks (I assume), make of that what you will 8-)
