We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.

If they feature good tread clearing performance as well, Then you'll be a first class muck spreader.

We'll better stay clear then ...

This was tempting but I really didn't need a new bike. Then my old single speed tried killing me again yesterday, flinging another chain off under power at a busy junction. Placed an order whilst still bleedingL2R24 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 02, 2021 11:21 am PX doing 25% off their Ti Rocky Road rigid 29er (£1,039), and the GX Titus version (£1,799). Both decent alternatives to the likes of the Bombtrack Beyond +, though not quite as much clearance on the back (good for 2.6 though). Not XD wheelsets either which might limit cassette choices, but still....

Nice one! Possibly slightly late since the order is already placed but it looks ideal for what I want. Basically a winter MTB for extended commuting so I can keep the Stooge for special occasions.L2R24 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 05, 2021 7:39 am https://youtu.be/d-IBlzGG_xA

Cheers for the vid! I couldn't find much info anywhere about the bike so its a bit of a stab in the dark. Much appreciated

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
^Glad it helped
. I found another GuyKesTV review some months ago: https://youtu.be/7gA3g24zdCk
It kind of covered the Silk Road and Rocky Road. Guy put the Silk Road Tech Talk vid shortly after (link at the end of the bikepacking vid), and we exchanged a few messages about him posting the Rocky Road one but it never quite happened until the other day. It was a lot of dosh to splurge on something with no reviews, so it was useful to at least see them in the flesh, so to speak...PX were great at answering my numerous on them too.
I reckon you'll like it, the Silk Road exceeded my expectations to be honest...changed tyres to tubeless 2.6 mezcals, all good...

Lots of good options on Sport Pursuit right now. Bibs aplenty.
Re: Bargain Alert Thread
I picked up a couple of these 5 litre drybags from Decathlon today for £10 each. They are bombproof so wont mind rubbing against the scenery. Something you may not like is there is a single closed position, ie you can't make the bag smaller. A 1200ml Alpkit Ti pot with a 11.5cm circumference will fit nicely in the bottom of the bag.

Good price here for a pair of Lezyne Zecto lights. I’ve bought some as a second set as they are very compact and have excellent charge life https://www.tredz.co.uk/.Lezyne-Zecto-D ... 111998.htm

Alpkit have started their Black Friday sale - https://alpkit.com/collections/black-friday. The tarps (on the second page) are good value, I think they are down to the price we paid for them five years ago.

Anyone any experience of the MTB trousers? https://alpkit.com/products/floe-trouser-mens-1 I've been looking at some others recently from Nukeproof and Leatt.

Edit: why does this say "r...i...g" when you type it in, but converts to the word "bicycle" in the published text?!

Cheers for that's. Like my Humvee shorts, and they're pretty cheap. But I do like that the Alpkit ones come in separate widths/lengths for the long and thin (me)

Admittedly I've just had an unaccustomed mid-week couple of pints in the Black Lion (our pal Stu needed one) but I'm sure someone up there ^ has managed to quote a quote that had happened after the quoting of it. A first for This Place if so. Either that or I'm stuck in some weird temporal warp thing or something.

You also have to ignore the message, about an other post has since been submitted.... So helpful but not a foolproof 'warning message. Re: Bargain Alert Thread
I just ordered a rocky road from planet x also, probably need a new thread for this bike!!
Going to convert to drops as i just prefer them and have most of a groupset to swap onto it and will sell the sram eagle it comes with.
Any recommendations for tubeless 29" tyres, I'm going to be doing endurance riding on this bike so prefer a bit narrower and faster rolling? Google not helping, availability is poor at the moment

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
What do you call narrow? 2.1s or 24mm?

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
Narrow for the 29 rims, not used that size before, I'd say 2.1 to 2.4? Max clearance is 2.6 i believe
