Looks like Mr May from this parish is out enjoying himself on the Goat Creek Trail now. Lucky bugger.

Good luck to all the Bearbones folks taking it on this year. Watch out...it'll get under your skin. :)

For the blue dot watchers... does anyone have a list of the Bearbones regulars we should be keeping an eye out for?

Does anyone know whether he's actually riding?

Guessing if he is, it's under a Pseudonym?

He picked up a bike from loughbbikes (I think it was) whether he wants to have a SPOT is another thing, or he has a sudo name.

Hopefully I will get some work down for the next few weeks. It's been addictive just in the build up!

Greg's just riding past the Kananaskis.
Lovely place.

I suspect that Guy is going to be riding with a spot for the usual safety and tracking reasons. However, a pseudonym would be too easy to crack. My guess is that, if he has one, he'll be on a separate track.

Why would he use a pseudonym?
No offensive but he's hardly a rock star and do they even know him stateside?

TT racing is pretty big, motorbike racing perhaps bigger than cycling, or at least more chance of international renown at his level? Maybe he just wants to be sure of P+Q - it's all a huge commitment and effort and to have the solo, undistracted aspect undermined by well-meaning fans might detract from the experience he wanted.

Could be insurance reasons too? Drivers/bikers turning up and tagging along, although well meaning, just adds unnecessary risk...

He's not a rock star but following on from his TV series he's not taken well to the frequent, albeit small intrusions into his life away from the screen. It may not show though his on screen persona but he's pretty shy. When I was racing against him last summer, he was gracious around all the people who wanted to talk to him and get his autograph but you could tell he'd rather it wasn't going on. It's tricky for him because he really likes doing all the programmes and challenges and the whole public persona when it's his choice to do so.

As for the US, he has a bit of a following. I'm not sure how much he might get doorstepped for that market but I can imagine there would be a fair few reporters who would try and get a few pictures and an impromptu interview for an online British site like The Sun or The Daily Mail. It's really not his thing and that would probably get to him more than some fans, Brit or American, trying to catch him as he passed through a town en route. You can judge him as harshly as you like on that and suggest he's overreacting. However, you're not him and you don't have to live his life of minor celebrity. He does and it's his choice if he wants to do something anonymously.

Some guy on bikepacking.net thinks they saw him in Banff on the 6th.

STW think he might be riding as Terry Smith (ITT, started 3 days ago) as he's the same age... has been taking some detours which is odd if he wants a fast time.

I'm no Mike Hall expert, but I seem to remember listening to him in the past, I believe he doesn't like "racing" at the front for the first few days, letting the in less experienced than himself blow themselves out as he makes up places at his own pace.
