Blue Remembered Bridleway, Shropshire
The best bit was the Kerry Ridgeway. Lovely views.
Then camping bishops castle.
Just chillin at the moment, lovely weather.

Venetian Nights audax yesterday, excellent weather, brilliant route all topped off with a stop at the Van of Delights... twice!!

(Not pictured - the entire back of the van filled with cake, scones, tea, coffee etc. and additional sandwiches for the second visit!
Highly recommend any of the Broken Cross Audax routes and calendar events.

1st time 3 Peaks Cyclo Cross. Fantastic day to be out, but bloody hard work dragging a bike to the top of the fells. Although I must admit that I hadn't prepared for it & my regular 1 hour road rides didn't really cut it

Re: Todays ride
Thursday was my last ride (nobbing around the BSO doesn't really count) and it was a great way to injure many birds with a single projectile ... BB200 recce, some more test miles on the 2016 Longitude and a visit to see my mum, which is always good for additional brownie points

May the bridges you burn light your way

Re: Todays ride
I rode a brilliant loop around the Peak District on the crosser. You lot up there are spoilt with all your lovely long gravelly bits.

Re: Todays ride
Short (but lots of vertical) loop around the more technical trails in the Forest of Dean. Fantastic weather.

Nice one Greg. Good to see a few others off here do the race.GregV wrote:1st time 3 Peaks Cyclo Cross. Fantastic day to be out, but bloody hard work dragging a bike to the top of the fells. Although I must admit that I hadn't prepared for it & my regular 1 hour road rides didn't really cut it
Re: Todays ride
Finally made it to Starcross and back.
Things I learned:
I can now ride up to the top of the big hill to get out of town using the loose rutted gnarly tracks round the back of the golf course without having to push.
Its not as boring a ride as I first thought.
Best way through Topsham is the lower route.
No matter which direction you are going in there is always a head wind on the Exe.
How to fire up my GPS and the really good news that the round trip is 74.8 miles not 52 as previously measured using google maps.
Thorntons mini chocolate fudge brownies are yummy but can’t eat a whole packet.
Bassetts jelly babies are the best but can’t eat a whole packet.
High 5 citrus flavour tastes of nothing or dish water cant decide.
My new padded shorts work really well. No cream applied no rash.
Stem cells are really handy for water jelly babies and cake.
Must get eating while riding sorted. Basically I don’t like it makes me bloated. Must force myself to stop and have proper food.
Must sort out my upper back and neck.
Have come to the conclusion that the one legged squats balancing on a wobble board for knee and thigh strengthening have also changed the shape of my backside as what used to be a supremely comfortable saddle is now the most uncomfortable saddle in the world.
All in all quite encouraging given this time last year I was yet to get off my back and learn to walk with a stick after trying to plough a furrow through flint gravel with my knee.

Zazen - nothing happens next this is it.

There is a tailwind on the Starcross side on Sundays.Mariner wrote:Finally made it to Starcross and back.

Did both sides of the Exe on Sunday with my 8 year old daughter. Caught the ferry from Exmouth to Starcorss and very nice it is too. Extremely busy which I guess is a good thing.
Yours sounds like a nice loop, might give it a go myself.
Re: Todays ride
46 mikes today
Had a day off work so rode down the canal to town, slow start but lovely weather
Long climb up and into the afan valley, exploring the fireroads upto glyncorrwg ponds, then cycle network back to neath
Then after meeting the other half after she finished work I went and rode it all a second time with her, this time at dusk
Our new cheapo lights from lidl worked superbly once the sun set, both lighting the Forrest road and in traffic heading back
Great ride, suffering with tendon damage in my hand now though...need to rethink my grips/bars...

Last nights ride really.
First time on local trails in over a month, needed some time off the bike. Slight chesty cold had me a bit slower than planned with a camera taken so I'd stop and take a few photos. Only 20km, but so happy I took the "real" camera for a change.

Staying in Wooler for a couple of nights, so this morning went up and over the Cheviots. Did 30km, a couple of km carrying in true BB style and some cracking riding on sheep tracks, quad tracks and land rover tracks. The scenery is fantastic, the weather superb and the cloud inversion over the town quite spectacular. Should get a couple of hours in tomorrow as well before we have to head a bit south.

140km of a planned 230km Peak District loop yesterday. Called it a day due to poor planning (missed my food stops and didn't want to backtrack up the hills to get to them, think I need to start wearing my glasses on rides...) Lost my granny gear too so got some pushing practice in.
On the plus side I got to "comet" watch whilst waiting for my lift home.

I rode to Mere this weekend.
It's weird over the border in Wiltshire.

65 km from Plymouth Hoe and up onto Dartmoor & back, during which I managed to smash my smartphone and lose my sunglasses in an unfortunate not-unclipping-from-my-SPDs-fast-enough sideways tumble. So, no Strava or Instagram for a while

Eaten out of the back of John's camper a couple of times - the food is a highlight of those Macclesfield rides for me. Tend to do Andy Corless' rides more when I get a chance, partly for convenience, partly for his evil routing.atk wrote:Venetian Nights audax yesterday, excellent weather, brilliant route all topped off with a stop at the Van of Delights... twice!!

Been meaning to give Andy C's routes a go. He's running a 1000km this season, only 10,000m climbing... could be something to aim for...DrMekon wrote:Eaten out of the back of John's camper a couple of times - the food is a highlight of those Macclesfield rides for me. Checked the YACF thread... clicked on the paypal link... then checked I had a pass. Fortunately I do. I'm in. Should be fun. Pendle 600 remains the most challenging ride I've done - much harder than LEL, and I got a grade 2 pressure sore on that!
Re: Todays ride
A brisk 65km on the Mtb on maybe the last sunny, dry day this year. Accompanied by Mr mje.
Will be taking it easy for a few days now and keeping my eyes peeled for the gaps in the clouds this week and nipping up to Yorkshire dales to ride the 200

Rode down to Taylor's yesterday. 46 high velocity canal kilometres and then linked lanes and bits of singletrack to make 117km total.
Rode at Ashton Court and Leigh Woods on the Stoater today. Lots of fun and surprisingly capable of the rough blue trails there. I'm pretty set on using this bike for the BB200 at the weekend now.

Re: Todays ride
90-ish Kms yesterday on Long Mynd and twice over Wenlock Edge. Returned to Long Mynd today but instead of riding up the Hamperley fire road, decided to shoulder the bike up Ashes Hollow. Won't be doing that again. Fun descent down Plush Hill before cruising home. Just shy of 60Kms.
