In an effort to get out on my bike more and be more sociable I'm hopefully* heading out for a ride and bivi on Thursday the 8th if anyone fancies it. I've not ridden for a little while so I will be travelling at a leisurely pace and would welcome any company. (don't expect much conversation when I'm riding, I can still only pedal or talk! it is my aim this year to rectify this).

I'm starting from home (Hathersage) heading over Stanage pole, Wyming Brook, Ronksly road, Ughill moors, Strines and Dukes road, cheeky trails over Derwent edge/Lost Lad then bivi up in the woods near Kings Tree/Howden res (171944 Flat bivi in the trees hidden from the path) . More than happy to detour for folks, or help people dump cars near the dams for an early get away in the morning.

along these lines- http://app.strava.com/activities/199162081

*I Have young children and while all plans are made with the best intentions they are subject to change instantly and for no apparent f...ing reason x( My family are aware that going on this ride will make me a better father husband and human being.

i'm interested Paul and have been in a similar position of late. A social ride sounds like a top plan!

Ace. Was thinking of leaving home after tea ( about 6ish) could meet at Wyming Brook at 7ish. Entirely flexible. As for the route, really don't mind where we head.

Hi,

Although I've been a member for a while, I've not managed to get out to meet you guy's yet, which I hope to put right soon. I have the same considerations as above, although mine are slightly older. But this time I am working in the Cairngorms so will have to give it a miss. One day.

The Monday (now Wednesday ) rides are a good crack. Riding as a group but with plenty of waiting to regroup - especially off the beaten track on cold dark winters nights.

I'm not aware that any of us really knew each other in real life before them either...

All welcome :-bd

My germ infested family have given me their colds/flu for new year, so I'm out for the bivi tonight. About the third bivi in a row cancelled at the last minute. Gutted is an understatement.
