Hurray for good Stu's mum news!

Also cheery for me, having gone for a little Brompton-pootle to:
  • Drop off some fave but now rather airy in the backside area jeans with the clothing repair lady
  • Pick up some new gloves from the LBS
  • And a bargain bag of baked goodies from the local bakery via Too Good To Go
  • Establish that an Ortlieb accessory pack can hold 4 tins of finest hipster beer
  • Pick up some plant food for my long-suffering houseplants
  • Get complimented on my laces (wasn't on the to-do list, but I'll take it.)

I forgot it was BB2/300 weekend. Would have been riding but thought after my first week back at work was not the best timing. This seems sensible now. Not terribly cheery though.

I am enjoying the sunshine outside the pub though - thought I'd celebrate first week done with a pint on the (long) way home.

Not the rainbow ones are they? I get compliments for those

Cheery Friday in that we are off to the Black Mountains tomorrow for a week to ride bikes and walk up and down hills and sit in front of a log burner, drink beer and read. Remote cottage with no phone signal and no WiFi. The whole world can go to hell in a hand cart next week for all I'll care!!

Half day at work and now on the way to see Dinosaur Jr in Manchester  First time I've been to a gig in another city, which always makes it seem more exciting, for ages (since the thing).

Train was cancelled  but on a different one now.

Is it a good or bad idea to get Sudofed and Sudocrem mixed up do you think?

Bit late to the party but ... just had a nice walk round the forest with Ruby and made it back just as the heavens opened ... that's cheery because generally the heavens open when we reach the furthest point from home. :-bd

Also, I'm off to the classic bike show at Stafford tomorrow. Probably wise to leave any flexible friends at home.

I know I'm a day late, but had a cracking day at Bike Park Wales today - thought it would be a bit gnarr and full of stormtroopers, but trails for all abilities and full of all sorts of people. Plus a letter from the tax man to say they owe me money.....which is good as I hope to offset what I just spent on shiney bike bits and DIY projects.

A 'dark chocolate' Friday for Reg - bitter/sweet - for a number of reasons, upon which I shall not elaborate.

However, am anticipating a jolly Chilterns Spring (*) Thing ride this weekend, coordinated by that there BrownDog and featuring a number of BBB luminaries - although two have already sprung their springs elsewhere before we've even started!

Nowt wrong with the Chilterns although I'm mildly jealous of our V who is at this very moment having a lovely time around Soar Y Mynydd and Elan, the lucky old baggage  .

(*) yes I know

Ooh?

Reminds me, I've a Harris Magnum arriving on Monday but alas, it's a job not a purchase.

Not as cool as that! - another triumph tiger but 800, not 650 (which is still awaiting an oil seal...). Bit of an impulse buy as the shop offered me a good price for the Bavarian behemoth in exchange. I've been after something smaller, lighter and more conventional as the BM is on the verge of quite a lot of expensive stuff needing done.... we'll see....

Has been difficult to find cheeriness today, what with having tested positive for the thing on Tuesday, having avoided it for 2 and a half years, and have some fairly flu-like symptoms. I thought I'd turned a corner when I managed to get out of bed without a herculean effort this morning, but then it bit back around lunchtime and I had to go back to bed with the shivers.

Politics is best left unsaid, though isn't helping my feeling of illness.

But I've just read an article in Singletrack mag by Petor of Dear Susan bicycles that made me feel better. There's often thought to not be much of an overlap between "here" and "there" but I think a lot of folks here would enjoy, so I hereby commend you to go out and buy a copy!

Get well soon Dave, I got mine at the beginning of the year...
I'm aware that there is all sorts of nonsense going on with our so called govt. at the mo but I don't listen to the news so I'm totally oblivious. Maybe this is a bad thing but I feel much better for it!

That's a bit special. As a motorbike mad teen, I remember waiting at the bus stop after 'tech one night, a bloke was tinkering on the kerb with a motorbike. I looked at the wrap-around tubular frame and recognised it straightaway. (I used to lust and drool over the readers specials inside the rear cover of Performance Bikes ) I ended up offering him a push start. It was the one and only time I've had my hands on a Harris Magnum

I suspect such things were highly entertaining, particularly with a GSXR 1100 lump in it. Modern stuff is just too good.....
Anyway the new trumph is a bit dull compared to my old one but just the job for blatting around the place
