That all said, how comparable is it to stick welding? I was okay at that in college but utterly abyssmal at brazing (exploding work pieces a-plenty)

Certainly no harder than stick welding and you may find the results better.

Yeah, I got one of the Scotroutes jackets as well and having used it a few times already can say that it's become my go to cold weather jacket. I also just got one of the Hexon waterproof jackets as well which I carried with me on a ride today but didn't wear as it didn't rain. It looks pretty decent though and packs smaller than my other waterproofs (which was what I was looking for).

That looks like a great bag for the money. I had to laugh at "trapezoidal mesh wall baffles" though. "''Ere, check out the trapezoidal mesh wall baffles on this!" I'm sure someone clever spent a lot of time coming up with that design feature, and I'm sure it was worthwhile, but I can't work out what it could possibly mean.
