Weather conditions are looking interesting for the next week. Warm (+2), followed by very cold (-20). Can't quite get a forecast as far ahead as Saturday yet though...

Hopefully it will go colder as clothing wise, I haven't prepared for warm weather. Obviously have a lot of kit for -1C though

See you on that bus then!

Finally got my setup sorted, it allows for easy packing in the cold weather!

-sleeping bag on bar harness
-fuel bottle on the bike
-1x feed bag with water
-1x feed bag with battery+food
-Stem bag with tools etc
-Small pannier bag with bivi bag, food and stove
-Small(ish) rucksack with spare clothes/down coat/camera etc

Not the lightest setup but there we go :-bd

(only one pannier to allow for pushing the bike)

Thanks Mark

I'll be taking the GoPro, perhaps not for deployment in the race, but certainly for some of the other riding I'm hoping to do while I'm out there

Be good if you could set it up during the race to take a picture every 3 second and then put it into a stop-motion film

Thanks Chew.

:-S // quickly checks calendar....race not until 21 Feb, phew. There'll surely be another 7 days of gear talk, faffing, weather watching and commentary on how good the snow is, or not...

Thanks Kevin.

All gear packed now. 50kgs in total, what with riding and non riding gear, clothes, laptop and associated baggage.

I've got two cameras and the GoPro. Hoping to get out before and after the race to get some good shots/ footage.

Sub 40kilos for me, haven't weighed my handluggage though. To be fair, I haven't weighed my support (read, drink beer and go sight seeing) crew and their kit!

Good luck on getting your bike sorted Nigel. See you both on Friday.

Thanks for the well wishes, think I'm going to need them

To all you crazy snow riders...have a great race. Race hard, stay warm, don't lose any digits! I'm rather envious...you'll get to enjoy fresh salmiakki.

Yep, good luck to all ... and I have to say I'm not envious at all, not even a little tiny bit.
