Steve into the top 20 now.
As said above you can send stuff home but I also remember Jill Homer once writing that the coldest she got on TD was in New Mexico in what was a wettish year.

Josh has dropped a few places in the last 24 hours. Zoe is going very well indeed.
Does anyone know anything about Danny Green? He's doing very well too!

I see the 20 day pace marker has appeared (it might have been there a while but only just noticed it). Looks like Steve is about 100 miles ahead of it and he's also passed the 1000 mile mark

It’s been there since near the start and Steve has been well inside his target throughout. Quite impressive in these conditions. And based on the photos on his IG, he appears to enjoying himself! I am both happy for him and envious of those gorgeous views!whitestone wrote: ↑Fri Jun 17, 2022 6:47 pm I see the 20 day pace marker has appeared (it might have been there a while but only just noticed it). Has Josh Ibbet Scratched? Seems to have spent several hours today in one place and now showing a camp spot...

Nope but he is now in 10th on the trail, and Steve now 14th

Re: The 2022 Tour Divide watchers thread.
We heard yesterday that Josh was going to have a day off due to the issues he has had from the start so were expecting his dot not to move today. Rich looks like he has more up to date info though.

Re: The 2022 Tour Divide watchers thread.
Thanks all. Josh has scratched - he had a chest infection before the start that cleared up, but bad news it's back. The nights have been very cold and the days hot which won't help.
Danny Green is a bit tough - army type and 2x finisher of the CTR (I think its that one). Quite fast!
I'm having a shower and meal in Colter Bay. Decided to cut early after only 100 miles as the next 2 lodges on route are likely to be rammed (hot Friday and nearby yellowstone park is closed, so all tourists will divert to this area (was my logic).
Having a fantastic time - the scenery is vast and incredible and people so friendly. With great weather there isn't a better place at the moment

Agreed he’s well under 20 days. Hoping the winds drop before he gets to the BasinBlackhound wrote: ↑Sat Jun 18, 2022 9:19 am Bad news about Josh. Steve getting close to top 10 and having a great ride.

Looks like Jim and Chris have decided to scratch.

I saw that.
Flash floods and more rain through yellowstone. Hugely swinging temps.
Such a shame, I know Jim had been looking forward to this for so long

Jim's been looking forward to this since before he got home from his last time there, gutted for him as he's worked really hard to get there.

Gutted for him, he sent me an email before the race having watched my “don’t ever do it again” speech. I hope he goes backBobCatMax wrote: ↑Sun Jun 19, 2022 10:12 amAlso on the Insta, Dave..

Steve camped in the middle of the Basin. Looks like he’s going to wake up to some welcome tailwind

Looks like Steve may meet your mate heading north sometime today too Dave?
We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.

Did you know that only 4 of this years top 10 TD bikes are running drops? Course you did because you wouldn't really expect anything different but I bet there'll be a few surprised in the wider world

Re: The 2022 Tour Divide watchers thread.
Not having riden the Divide myself I don't know "ill advised" riding it in drop bars is but I have always found the "multiple hand positions" argument to be spurious. A well set up flat/swept bar will give you all day comfort without the need to keep changing from one position to another and the aero argument lost as both types are regularly fitted with TT bars.Bearbonesnorm wrote: ↑Mon Jun 20, 2022 11:46 am Did you know that only 4 of this years top 10 TD bikes are running drops?
