I think I've just encountered chiggers for the first time. At least, I think they're chiggers bites - much itchier than midges and bigger lumps and up my shorts. Still itching almost a week later

Dunno about midges but I was round there last Wednesday eve and there was clouds of wee flys - truly horrible as there was no avoiding them and they were in amongst my lid, down my shirt, up my nose, in my eyes.... yuck - ended up doing another monster climb over Benarty hill to get awy from them
