Lluest-cwm-bach.
I said give me a clue, not give the game away entirely

Clues such it's x metres from a reservoir or y metres from a woodland would have at least forced me to do some spacial analysis of likely buildings fitting those parameters :)
But still, it looks interesting. Access by bike not entirely straightforward if the hydrology of the area to the east is anything to go by...

Anyway, for anyone else interested, more info here: http://planning.powys.gov.uk/portal/ser ... KID=106270

Re-reading the planning application I'm unsure if this is going to be a MBA bothy or EVT, like claerddu.

On the basis that the applicant is EVT, I suspect they will be doing it. I haven't read the access statement, but there might be something in there about the MBA?

"The building is intended for sporadic occupation only, and parts of the renovation are to be carried out in conjunction with the Mountain Bothys Association."

I'd guess EVT will own the property (much like many of the Estates do in Scotland) and MBA will do the work and "run" it.

Edit - and it's going to have a crapper :D

We must be on the same mailing list ;)

I've stayed in worse looking holiday cottages. To take it from the middle pic to the bottom is very impressive. 40 helicopter trips to run in materials. Still, if the planners insist in mid-cons like crappers that's what it takes

Sounds like its weather tight and they're starting on the internals.

Mebe a better thing to put a few quid to than some bloke's round the world hols (search for MBA and you'll find it).

From MBA:

Lluest Cwm Bach is now ‘open for business’ after a successful programme of work through the summer and autumn. Big thanks are due to the estate who contributed significant funds and manpower and who were also responsible for the majority of the exterior work.
There are some concluding tasks to complete, notably the interior lime mortaring, but please do not be tempted to progress any work yourselves without first getting in touch with the Area Organiser (Tony Blackburn arenigtony@googlemail.com or 01254 260286). You are, however, very welcome to attend a future work party!
Camping and fishing is by permission of the estate only, as is access by means other than on foot. Contact the Estate Office 01597 810449.
There is no local fuel source – please do not damage the few trees in the vicinity of the bothy. However, in the short term there may be some offcuts from the construction work, or old pieces of timber from the previous roof structure.
General information about the new bothy can be found in the main Bothy pages and for MBA members, in "Bothy Notes" in the members section of the website.

So we would need to make arrangements in advance if we want to cycle in:

I thought the same ... but the map only shows a non-distinct path leading to it, so I figure you'll be pushing a bike anyway and thus walking ;)

The "Bothy Rooms" at the elephant and castle in Newtown are certainly less tasteful than that place. Looks like a nice spot.

Thanks, the geology of yours gave it away. Do you have a grid ref for it?

The one I posted I don't know. Found the image while searching for confirmation of the Llanberis one (which I didn't find). It's in North Wales, somewhere...

my miss spent 20's involved a lot of climbing and some wandering about in the quarries, if I remember correctly you can walk through a tunnel to that hut. Which makes access a bit simpler than the picture suggests :D

When I first went to the quarries in the early 90's there was still PPE and other personal kit abandoned in some of the more out the way huts higher up. Very spooky. An ace place to explore on a rainy day in snowdonia
