Re: Scottish Spring Thing
I'm just along the line in Falkirk and there's regular trains into Waverly so I can be there at a time that suits everyone
Re: Scottish Spring Thing
Sorry to mess you about so soon after I said I would be interested ..... I need to pull out of this one I'm afraid as I have just booked a couple of cheap flights to the sun for the boy and I, so I won't be around. Hope you have a lot of fun - please post lots of photos.
Re: Scottish Spring Thing
No problem, sure you can join us on another occasion.

20C? Jings I would pass out in that without cycling! Hope you enjoy your trip, as Ray says there'll be plenty other trips for you to join inBorderer wrote:Yes, I would like that.

What time do we plan to meet, and where Ray? Looking to book my tickets. What time do you think we will be back on the Sunday? Cheers.
Re: Scottish Spring Thing
Shall we say 11am by WHSmiths at Waverley station. Don't intend doing too much Sunday, say back at Waverley for 2.Gari wrote:What time do we plan to meet, and where Ray? Looking to book my tickets. What time do you think we will be back on the Sunday? Cheers.

Re: Scottish Spring Thing
Tickets booked, will be at Waverley for around 10:00. Do I need to bring a shelter etc just in case?
Re: Scottish Spring Thing
Just in case, yes. We might get carried away in the pub and miss the tide! Unless you have a packraft of course.Gari wrote:Tickets booked, will be at Waverley for around 10:00. Do I need to bring a shelter etc just in case?
Blair, whats the closest to ten you can do?
Re: Scottish Spring Thing
I like the sound of packrafting across half pissed! I will aim to be there at 09:36, if I miss that train I'll be there at 10:06Ray Young wrote:Just in case, yes. Re: Scottish Spring Thing
So, Gari, Blair and I meeting at Waverly at 10 am and mike meeting us in the Pentlands somewhere.
Re: Scottish Spring Thing
I decided to do a reccie of the accommodation last night so packed some stuff and walked there with the dog, her first bivi. There's more buildings than I remember I so had a good look through them all. No poo that I could see in any of them but a lot of broken glass so I recommend bringing a tarp and bivi bag. There was one building that only had a scattering of small pieces of glass so I swept it clean with a plastic carrier bag and dossed in there without any problems. The dog seemed to enjoy herself too. I'd brought a square of foam mat for her to sleep on and she wore her fleece coat. She woke me in the middle of the night so I put my down jacket over her and she settled straight away. This must of got too hot for her though because at six when my alarm went of she was lying on top of it. I didn't take ear plugs and actually didn't need any, the airport flight path is close but I wasn't bothered by any noise. All in all a very enjoyable outing.

Nice one
Re: Scottish Spring Thing
Nice one Ray, I was planning on bringing the tarp anyway, gussing it'll be lighter than a brush to sweep a room out!
Re: Scottish Spring Thing
Forecast for the weekend is high pressure/ settled. Currently debating what shelter to take

Re: Scottish Spring Thing
It'll be tarp and bivvy for me if we can't get in one of the buildings, my tent is a pita as I have to carry the poles in a backpack.Gari wrote:Forecast for the weekend is high pressure/ settled. Currently debating what shelter to take
