flatfishy,

oooh, even more tempting!

the only reason i've got any reservations at all about this one (or the 'Laser Comp 1' when it was on sale) is the room.

i've been told by folks in the know that i'd struggle to fit inside the Gelert 'Solo' and the Gelert is bigger (internally) than either of the the Terra Nova's (both the 'Laser Comp 1' or the 'Zephyros 1').

the Gelert is: 250cm long, 90 wide and 70 high.

the Terra Nova's are: 220cm long, 62/64cm wide and 95cm high.

so.....'people in the know'.....would the Terra Nova's be too small too or were your concerns about fit based on height???

If Did Nowt can fit in a Laser shaped object then you'll be fine ;)

DISASTER!!!

whilst looking through some bits and boxes this morning i found my tarp and groundsheet :(

obviously this should be good news but i'd managed to gain wifey approval for the purchase of the Six Moons 'Skyscape Scout' and was going to place thee order today.

but....all is not lost!

after some serious negotiations i've retained purchase approval but at a cost.

the cost is:

- The changing of the 'getting up at 06:00 with our daughter each day' ratio from a 1:1 to a 2:1 set-up (for a period of 2 months!!!).
- The delay of departure by one day of my summer trip (and agreed attendance of a massive party with 500 Frenchies).
- Two cleaning/hooverings of the car (to be reclaimed at her pleasure).
- One exterior cleaning and polishing (with T-Cut) of said car to get out all of the sheep scratches.
- One 'other' favour to be named at her pleasure as/when she deems fit (this one could sting!).

all-in-all i got stung but i really want that tent!

my wife sure can negotiate a good deal!

All you need now is for your finger to slip when ordering ... by accident a Skyscape - X arrives instead. Just think 450g of crispy cuben ;)

Has anyone had any experience of Easton tents? (Specifically the Kilo 1P)

I have found one of the suppliers in the shop I work in, Madison, sells these tents now.
(Excuse my ignorance if these are brand new, and no one will have any experience. Cant tell from the searches I have done)

They look pretty nice..

Sub kilo
Carbon pole/s
Alu pegs
Bath tub floor
Full mesh inner (able to pitch just this in hot weather)
Small pack size
Reasonable size vestibule

They are pretty damn expensive.... 400 quid for the cheapest one, but well sized and look solidly built.
And double wall design, unlike other superlights that I have seen.
BUT only available in yellow.....

Thanks
Andy

On One were flogging some quite cheaply the other week but they were the older 2 person models. The Kilo 1P is pretty much brand new from what I can tell. Looking at the spec, if you can get one cheap then it looks good but I certainly wouldn't be paying nearly 400 quid  ... 840g isn't light enough to warrant the price ;)

Yeah its a big wedge of cash to outlay, for as you say, not light enough for the retail price.
Its probably just the trade price and the carbon pole thats got me thinking...
Those Six Moons ones are amazingly light, and compared to the Easton ones, abit of a bargain! (Although I wouldn't want to get stung with duty and handling charges on top.)
:)

trickyname if I were looking for something sub kilo with carbon poles then I'd go for one of these over the Easton -http://www.outdoorkit.co.uk/product.php ... gn=froogle

I've got the normal Helium 100 and can't fault it (1100g). There's also an inbetween Helium Ultralight (sub 1KG) affair but you don't see many about. The Helium carbons are 800g.

Mmm, that Vango is looking pretty nice...Especially the Helium Carbon... Sub 1kg tents just amaze me. They put the cost and weight of a Hilleberg Akto to shame. And thank you or the advice. It is as I thought, the Easton is just too expensive even with a discount.
I'll have to do some more research.
8-) I'm off to enjoy the sunshine!
