Disposable tea bag filters / infusers for loose leaf tea are OK for filter style coffee - and it can all be done in one pot, without a separate mug.
Weight = approx. 0.1g
Cost - approx. £0.03

Coffee socks are a pretty good way to go, I picked one up in South America, probably time to buy a clean one ;-)

I know you don't want to hear it but, the Starbucks Via packets are great. We used them on our last trip to Iceland and my wife (who loves a coffee in the morning) found them more then acceptable. They also pack up small, so once they are used, the amount of stuff to pack out is very small.

Try them before dismissing them, it's probably the best instant coffee you can buy..
Imo the Kenco sachets are ok too (but not as good as the via)..
I get peeps wanting good coffee, but i don't see the point of going to a fair bit of trouble for it, then drinking it out of a ti mug!

I agree with Lump, after a bit of research am a big fan of the Lyons fresh coffee bags but prefer the "Gourmet Italian Rich Evening Coffee". Get them from local supermarket. Reasonable taste and very low faff

these make a reasonable cup of coffee without too much faff.

Black coffee. Never milked in any way.

Indeed, why would anyone want to pour cow baby food in to their drink is just weird.

A proper touring cyclist carries both an Aeropress and a porlex grinder
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Porlex-Stainles ... ex+grinder
The grinder fits into the hole in the Aeropress. I don't know if the mini does as well.
Rather than fresh milk, I carry a pound(?) can of Nido.

But, to paraphrase some curly-haired goon off the telly, that's like saying Gonorrhea is the best STD you can catch...
Aeropress for me normally, or a gadget from the US called a PressBot that turns my Nalgene bottle onto a bombproof cafetiere.

If you going to ruin a good coffee with milk, why make a good coffee in the first place?

Are you sure you're a bikepacker with that statement
Didn't realise there was that much hatred for coffee mate, only use it whilst on the bike

I've got cheap tastes. I'll drink anything upwards of, but not including, Mellowbirds. I don't like 'good / proper coffee' it's too much faff, always tastes too strong and bitter. I've currently got a bunch of the Nescafe 3in1 sachets, perfect.
I'm a cheap date.

About 5-6 years ago I weaned myself off milk because I was camping a lot and taking milk for coffee was such a faff
Now drink it black. Just switch between caf and decaf
Tea has to have milk, so I never drink it when I'm out

Much as benp1 says. I used to be a "milk and two sugars" guy but realised it was just extra faff when backpacking. I weaned myself off both and now can't stand either. I used to try to be polite if someone got it wrong and put milk in my coffee (or tea) but it makes it taste of sour milk.

Yup, like Colin, I was always a NATO coffee drinker, white, 2 sugars, stirred 13 times anti-clockwise, I guess 12 years in the Army taught me this.
But then Dad pointed out, when talking about it, we say in Dutch, it's Koffie Verkeerd, which roughly translates as Coffee Wrong.
So now, 90% of the time, I like it black.

Never tried coffee bags. They ok? Im such an indolent turd I just take those 3-in-1 Nescafe sachets and muscle my way past the gag reflex.
So now, 90% of the time, I like it black.
Cant think of coffee without thinking of this:
