Tuscany trail was great last year. Excellent food and wine, drinking water everywhere, warm weather, lots of easy gravel and some stunning scenery and villages.

I took a BA flight last year from gatwick to Pisa, then a short train ride to Massa. I took my bike bag with me to the start as there was a guy taking bags down to the finish for €20 or something... Stuck it in the bag and jumped on the train back to the airport... Logistically very easy. That shouldn't put anyone off.

BA have always (in my experience) been excellent with my bike. And they've not weighed it once which means you can get away with bringing loads of wine and salami home...

Subject to travel costs and logistics I've been given a provisional pass.

It's Italy in June, all you'll need is a half decent bike that'll get you round & some trendy sunglasses!!

I'm in. Thinking of flying Stansted to Pisa on the Weds, then return on Sunday (££££) or Monday (£££). Will probably leave the bike box in Pisa airport left luggage and ride to the start - this is starting to sound like a real BearBones weekend away in the sun

If it's anything like French sportivs, get a blank one off the Internet and sign it yourself.

Medical certificates are for Italian nationals only I believe. Last year I just photocopied my EU Health Card and sent them that... Seemed to do the trick...

I used my French one, 20€ for a certificate from your doctor to say you're fit to ride in biking events.

I found some horrible looking Ray Bans while out riding a couple of years ago .... wonders off to look for them.

For those thinking on completing it at a relaxed enjoyable pace how many days riding are we thinking. 5 days?
So fly out on the Weds and back on the following Weds?

5 days riding, plus 1 day getting back to the start/packing/contingency

I was looking at arriving Tues, leaving Tues.
Arrival flights don't get in until 21.30 on the wednesday so it'll have to be Tuesday.
4/5 days at slacker pace.

I'm Weds-Weds Chew..

My original plan was to hopefully finish sometime on the Sunday, then finish-time dependent, travel back up to Massa/Pisa Sun/Mon & stay somewhere already pre-booked (poss Florence area) Mon+Tues night, fly back Weds..

Think Gairy mentioned that there maybe a bit of provision at the finish point to stay overnight for those finishing at daft o'clock??

If i remember rightly it sends you a link to click on (in Italian), which then takes you to a page where you set up your password & the pages for the rest of your entry..

(It was new years day morn though & i was slightly hungover so could be wrong!)
