Got a route sorted. At least three different options for overnight spots, all with trees and at various distances into the route, depending on how my or anyone else's legs feel. "Only" 60km, but 1600m ascent if we do the full thing.

Head east of Brecon, over past Tal-y-llyn radio mast, Pennorth, Cathedine, Mynydd Llangorse, The Allt (optional camp spot 1), Tal-y-bont (pub), Tal-y-bont Forest, over the Dam, Aber Forest (Camp spot 2) or further into Aber Forest (camp spot 3) depending on time/inclination. Nice descent in the morning out of Aber Forest then lanes to Llafrynach, either a nice bridleway into the hills and then a bit more lane work before a nice descent back into Brecon, or canal towpath and a mid-morning breakfast in a cafe somewhere.

Steve, I've got that huge foam mat for you in the car, I'll fetch a knife too so you can cut it to size.

Iirc it was a fiver+vat, so 6 whole English pounds.
Best get yourself to the bureau de change as I don't want any of that foreign money you have. ;)

Do you want to borrow a decent size hammock tarp then?

Q. How many forum posts does it take for four people to arrange a one night bivvy trip in Wales?

A. more than the total distance in miles that they'll be riding :?

;)

Had a decent size hammock tarp from 10th wonder hammocks on EBay - not used it in anger but it looks pretty good

Cracking ride.

Hills, Child sized gloves, Snow, Pub, Yeti, Teet Owl, Cooked Breakie.

Thanks to Ian for a great route.

My only niggle was the pace, having to wait for Ian, Taylor & Steve to catch up all the time wore thin. As did getting every gate first which I had to open! ;)

Apart from that, brilliant :)

Sorry, I'll try harder to keep up next time...

Great company and lots of amusement all trip, mainly with Matt's constant delivery of one-liners.

Think so, or maybe I just absorbed a bit of all yours?
Real test will be the next ride I go out and do on my own...

Mojo?

Somebody seems to have stolen mine....

Of course I'm not happy. Look at me, I'm a big fat slob. I've got bigger titties than you do. I've got more chins than a Chinese phonebook. I've not seen my willie in two years, which is long enough to declare it legally dead. I can't stop eating. I eat because I'm unhappy, and I'm unhappy because I eat. It's a vicious cycle. Now, if you'll excuse me, there's someone I'd like to get in touch with and forgive... myself. Sorry. I farted.
