Just in case anyone needs it, I've left a box of swearing at SJ091365. There's a wide selection of f**ks, b**ks, w**ks and c**ks and if you dig really deep to the bottom, there's a gift wrapped "c" word.

Good luck to you all, wish I could be there.

Good luck Steve - bit nerve-racking doing big maintenance just before an event
I was aiming to leave just after 8am, so you can catch me up :-bd

Was all set today to sort out what & where today after some essential maintenance and then travel over to Wales tomorrow. Of course leaving it this late guaranteed a wrong part and half a morning finding one sharpish. Ah well, we're supposed to perform better under pressure...

Brakes done, forks work, bike thoroughly tested with a 200 metre test ride. Cleats fitted to new shoes. What could possibly go wrong?

So, now look for a bloke hopping back to the start at 11am looking for brake pads, cleat bolts and a shock pump..... :-bd

Here's my set up:

All set for my 5th Bear Bones 200 by Ian Barrington, on Flickr

In the end I reduced the size of the rear bag and will be putting food in a bum bag. Bike just under 30 lbs as pictured, but excludes water.

I like the look of that Ian, looks speedy!

I went the other way:

Not decided if I'm using a bar bag and frame bag combo or bar and seat to leave the triangle free for shouldering duties.

That post ride 'sick feeling' probably means you won't be wanting any beer :-bd

I'm currently shopping for food for the ride and beers for after - both equally important!

That looks really fast. Finished packing - a few paranoia items - emergency fibre spoke, spare cleats, spare links. Don't want to think about it any more.

32.5lbs not including water.

Ditto.

So, I've started packing. Weather forecast looks promising, so have packed what I have in mind, and then of course the extras so I can last minute faff. Cooked flapjack last night, shall have a look at the map this evening. Front tyre seems to be still inflated which is good considering it really is ghetto tubeless. Brakes are squeeking despite a quick go over with IPA, but they do stop me...oh yes, this is the least prepared I've been in a while. Haven't weighted it, but should be less than WRT setup as carrying less (and I've not packed it all yet).

How do people manage with to little stuff?

I guess knowing I'm going to get some sleep I have higher expectations of comfort.

Alpkit dual 20 litre dry bag (20 litres is an exaggeration) with bivy bag, sleeping quilt, Exped mat with pillow/pump, first aid kit, tools, spare gates belt, socks and thermals to sleep in. That in a Wildcat Gear Lion harness.

Alpkit tapered dry bag with waterproof, cycling jersey, food, tiny bike lock/alarm In a Wildcat Gear Tiger.

Wildcat Gear Lioness with at hand food, money, battery to recharge garmin, head torch.

Far less than I have ever carried before but still way more than many of you!

Don't worry Dave, I have more stuff than you. I'm a rather safe than sorry sort of guy, and I work on the assumption that everywhere will be closed.

When I got to the box it was almost empty. Some empty wrapping and a b**ks so I had that :-bd
