You need to follow the Wki link through to unusual place names.
Apparently Bear + Woods = Austria

Well remembered BH...I'd forgotten that one...
One of the most lovely sections of the route as I remember it, between BML and the smooth bit of the descent to Steamboat. Like an Alpine meadow with amazing views to the left. I expect all riders will be feeling better after the Lodge than before it

that may be something to do with how well I remember it.
Truth Or Consequences, funny place name and story, reminded me of the Bill Bryson book where he stays there. The Lost Continent, an amusing read about small town USA.

Blackhound wrote:There is just as nice an avenue of aspen after Brush Mountain a little before the pass to get your photo opportunity
and just as you start the final climb to Lynx Pass there is another. We have more aspen alleys than you can shake a stick at here in the Clark/Steamboat Area.

So word is Billy Rice has come off-route in northern NM on his NoBo ITT as there's so much snow. He's going to get to Banff and then do the tandem ride south with his daughter. Fingers crossed that snow has melted in the next month!

Saw some video and photos from Billy Rice on Facebook. Loads of snow in Colorado, he took the TranAm route north as the road was clear, and he's heading to Brush Mountain Lodge now. He had high spirits and seemed genuinely confused about what to do when you're touring and not racing!!! He said he didn't want to hika-a-bike over snowy passes and damage his knees, as his number one aim is to ride SoBo with his daughter on the tandem.

Glen Carter (in the middle) is a 64 year old from Reno NV that Chew, Susan and myself rode with in 2013 down to Pinedale. This photo was taken on the pass between Butte and Fleecer Ridge. He is on the start line next week and is carrying a lot less and is a lot fitter. Expecting a very fast time for a 60+ rider all being well:
