I´ve emailed to the suplier, a shop in Germany. I have to remove dynamo and send it back to them to check what´s wrong. They say they have never had a problem with the dynamo. Now I´m in Spain and in 10 days on my way to Alps, then on the move travelling until end of August. I think I´ll have to keep it for as long as I can and buy a different one once I´m back to UK. Spent some good money on a dedicated wheel builder and now this looks like a disaster to me.
They said I should´ve got the dynamo and the rest of the wheel from same shop. Makes sense but now I see having a dynamo is a waste of money in case of a problem.
What would you do? I´m going to use spare front wheel for Sellaronda Hero and MB race early July. After that I´ll need dynamo, either the borked one or spend some money for another. Now money is a problem ouch!
SP dynamo hub - is mine borked?

I can see this being annoying but the shop that you bought the hub from are doing the right thing in offering to test it for you. Although I don't see why you can't post the entire wheel to them.
This is one of the troubles with not using a local bike shop. Although if you are travelling as much as you are in the next few months I could see that would be difficult anyway. I had my Dynamo wheel built by 18 bikes in hope. When I got a fault they lent me a replacement Dynamo wheel and rebuilt mine with a new hub all at no charge (ison paid for the parts and labour) obviously no help to your current situation.

Re: SP dynamo hub - is mine borked?
I contacted Vic at SP in Taiwan and because the failure I had was a known issue he sent me a replacement without wanting the old one back. I could then have got a competent shop to turn the hub swap round in a day (or less). Wheel build cost should be £25 plus spokes etc.
You could try that.
Anyway, you've only just finished the HT, how come you're on a biking holiday again? Don't your legs need a rest?

Javi
I have a spare unused 32 hole black SP PD8 here which I will eventually build up into a wheel but probably not for a couple of months.
It's the warranty replacement I got. I ended up buying a spare new one as I got anxious that the replacement wouldn't arrive in time for the HT550.
If it's the right hole count for you I could post it to you and you can get your front wheel rebuilt onto it. Once the German shop eventually warranty your hub you can send the replacement to me.
If this works for you then PM me the address you want me to send it to.

Re: SP dynamo hub - is mine borked?
Thanks Tom. I think it´s going to be sorted very quickly.
I contacted Ison via the website form and Vic replied quickly and they are sending me a new one to this address in Spain. I´ll be here until 14th or 15th and it should arrive on time. Meanwhile, I´ll send mine to Ison UK. That´s a fantastic customer service. Really impressed.
Steve, I don´t feel really tired, I pushed a lot on foot and spinning single speed was fine. Probably I´d be more tired without rear hub failure at the end as my plan was skipping the last night. Now taking antiinflamatories and I can see a lot of improvement in my ankles. Racing a 2 hours night race in my home town following weekend ouch! and then going to Alps for Sellaronda Hero UCI marathon champs and MB race, where I´ll meet Alan there hehe. Afterwards nothing planned so I´ll take it easy bikepacking. Maybe Alpine route 1 in Switzerland. Back to UK end of August:)
