I've been reading on some Tour Divide threads about cache batteries, and power wastage the battery causes. Seems like a good setup is to have a small cache battery to supply the GPS, as they tend to beep annoyingly when power drops, and then charge other devices direct from the sinewave revolution. Thing to do is have a split USB cable, like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B003CFAWUS/r ... EM9ATW44SZ

I have one of these, then put my own custom ends on (USB OTG std required to charge and power an Edge 500 at the same time for example).

Battery arrived from 7dayshop today. Unfortunately it doesn't charge and discharge at the same time.

This one;

Or is it faulty?

The spec does not say it can charge and discharge at the same time, whereas for some of the other packs this is written into the spec. So, I think it can do one or the other but not both.

Which buffer battery do people use?

The battery pack Neil Composite uses is back in stock again at 7dayshop.com and I've bought a twin pack with a mate. It's 4000mAh and comes with a handy 4 in 1 cable that has Apple 30 pin, Micro & mini USB and an old skool nokia output. Slightly annoying (dunno if it's a new edition) it also has a weedy torch built in that I found lighting up my frame bag the other morning! :roll: It does do charge/discharge simultaneously.

I understood it charged and discharged. Not a problem, under a tenner, always handy.
So can anyone recommend one that does? Cheers

What have you tried charging it with? The USB port from a PC will only be 500mAh and might not be enough as it's rated as 800mAh input and 1500mAh output.

I tried a PC port. I'll try a different source.
Fingers crossed.

Tried it with another larger output battery and the mains. Still no joy.
