Proper price too
I couldn't quite bring myself to spend quite that much on something that might only get used a few times a year.
Unless I suddenly find riding flats a complete revelation and decide to ditch my spd's...

My Salomon walking boots aren't a great match for the El Plastiques it must be said....

In Flat Pedal News, the DMR Vaults on loan from 99percentchimp arrived recently. Fitted them last night and rode on them today with the boots I'm using for Rovaniemi.
Amazingly I survived
Everything seems to stick together quite well. I had one small moment on the first descent, but after that seemed to adapt my body position/ riding style/ level of concentration quite well and feet felt surprisingly attached.
Oddly, I had more "offs" going up technical stuff, when attempted to pull up on the rear leg and doing a kind of unexpected dismount...

Pleased to say my Summer Rohans were better than the Salomons. Hope my new Winter boots for Rov are also a good match.
I took Fatty for a trip around Cannock and didn't get thrown off down the lumps & bumps and a trudge through the fresh snow was all OK too. I might be a convert to Flats....

A bit late but worth considering for future reference, as long as you dont want the latest and greatest, put these on my Pugsley recently and there fantastic, not as heavy as they look offer good grip and should clear snow very well due to the open design

Just googled wild animals of Finland and was a little surprised with the results
-lynx
-Bear
-wolf
-wolverine
I'm just glad they'll be in habitation!
Been using flats for a few years now, they were really useful in the snow last week. Made getting on and off easy

Hope they are OK Ian - feel free to make the pins longer (if you really want to rip the sh*t out of some expensive legwear

). I thought they might need some further breaking in but I see you had that well covered in the Beacons the other morning

Sorry but Lynx don't hibernate, but as wild cats they are generally quite wary of humans and there are very few reports in Finland, although numbers are increasing slowly. You would be very lucky to see one
The only time I heard of one coming close to people, was when the Lynx was injured and got close to a farm so it could get an easy meal.
