Of all the wives in all the world, it would not be good to miff mine, especially when I want a new frame bag sometime... [-X

If she gets cross and wont make you a bag then just get an alpkit one.

That should help ;)

What can possibly go wrong there?

PD-8X is 15mm bolt through.

I got my PD-8X through Evans and it came with a 9mm adapter. I currently use a 15mm bolt through, so have not used the adapter yet as I'm awaiting my new frame and fork.

Not sure if all PD-8X's(non Evans) come with the adapter, although you can get them through ebay for only a handful of pounds.

Jameso should be able to enlighten you I expect.
Pretty sure it comes in the box.
Just make sure that the adapter isn't 0.1mm wider than the hub. Mine was.

It meant that the qr wouldn't grip and so the connector spins and rips the wires out.

I'd got it from 18 bikes who were able to give it a spin on their lathe to sort it.

I'll take care about the bike question (those Valais or Engadin trails long for a solid and sturdy susser).
The train costs quite a bit, but I've still got enough vouchers to cover that.

If I can make it to Wales, I guess a welshman can make it to Switzerland

Mine was delivered built into a wheel. May well not be an X anyway. Not that I have anything other than QR anyway. ;)

Ian, how about a portable digital sound recorder for your videos/audio diary on the HTR.
These get a good write up (little over budget) and it would be good to hear your thoughts/pain in glorious stereo
