I love the Thorn.

I remember going to a demo day and there were about 5 of us and while they headed for stuff like the Commie Mega, etc I grabbed the Thorn!

Are Thorn still refusing to fit disc mounts?

They have fitted a rear disc mount but insist that a disc mount on a steel fork is "unsafe". Surly and Salsa etc have obviously got it wrong.

My mate bought one with a Rohloff to do some insane trans-continental tour (think it was England to Africa but could be wrong). He sacked it in Portugal for various reasons.

Bike weighed an empirical ton. My imnpression was that it was built very much for durability and performance when fully loaded up to tour. Consequently they seem to be a bit heavy and quite a stiff ride (ooer ).

Wouldn't be my choice but HYOH.

not particularly, the straps need to be on pretty tight, plus i only really use it for a small camera or some snacks but it stays put. the velcro straps are a bit on the slender side so i imagine it might deteriorate over time.
