I won't comment on the race until solo watches it!

back on track, it's raining in Alaska
(and I don't mean cold rain either!)

Feel free to comment as my son wants to give it to me as an anniversary present so I've only been told it arrived!

I'll ignore this thread.

Our anniversary is in April after all!

Watched this last night and well I was left feeling a bit "meh" to be honest. Didn't really find it inspiring at all. It just finished and I went to bed. :|

I enjoyed it but I don't have a great attention span for films. Thought it should of been longer to get more details of the race in the programme but hey ho!

I watched it with the wife, so it was probably more interesting to watch it with someone who knew nothing about these races.

I think his 2nd place stuck, I guess he got permission to have a film crew and doctor with him. Probably a trade off to let him come second for the publicity they received. Never sure if I like Cracknell or not, but I love his ability to flick off the pain switch when his is racing

I thought the film about him racing the desert marathon was much more interesting. I don't know if it was a longer film but it was much more indepth with a lot more insight into the other racers and the event itself.

I think Cracknell is an inspiring person but the way they dramatise the races for
television I don't partularly like.
I agree with Stu, the Marathon de Sables documentary was very good, the Coldest Race just tepid
and the Race Across America was weak, up until the point he nearly died and that made it more
dramatic !!
Yes, I have the Cracknell box set

I know I said I'd avoid this thread but temptation got the better of me.

Where did you guys watch it?

I did see the Tour Divide programme on Extreme the other day. Hats off to Mike Lee in that one.

As for Cracknell, I guess I have a slight soft spot after watching the race across America a fair while back. The bit where his Mrs discussed the effects on him post accident had my wife and I welled up. It bought back painful memories of my 'big accident' when a red light jumping car cleared me out!

My head is OK now, shame about my back/hip but I can still ride so that's what counts.

Not that I want to link directly to something of questionable source so maybe try the 6th link down.

Aidan is going to have to get a wiggle on to get past Jeff. He's about 6 hours behind by the look of things.

Congratulations to Jeff Oatley who has completed the 1000 mile race in just over 10 days, knocking 5 days off the previous record. Incredible!!!!!!! Aiden looking like coming in 2nd.

See Aidan ate moose curry and cranberry pie in White Mountain. Something to aim for at our winter bivy in December?

Well done to Aidan though, great ride.

SS record for Aidan then! Congratulations to him, that will stand for a while I expect? Wasn't he the fist to reach Nome on a SS last time he did it?

Pretty sure that's right jameso.

I think all the records from this years event should end up standing for a while. Seems like conditions were almost perfect. I guess the only place most people could really make up time in future will be that stretch "near" the end where they couldn't cross the ice.

Congrats has to go to every one even if they didn't finish. Even making it to the start line for something like this is a decent effort.

Aidan, day ten looked like a tough day - 6 3/4 hour 30 mile swim. Badass!
