I have an Endura Convert jacket, I can't remember how long I've had it, at least six years.

It's never let me down, I don't over heat in it, it keeps me properly dry. It has a bit of substance to it, which is reassuring in really bad weather, but it's not too heavy (400g I think)

It converts into a gilet which is great.

It has hand pockets which I like for snacks etc.

It's a tenner over your budget.

I'm out in all weathers and for me a hood is a must !

I bought a Montane Minimus jacket that has a hood, it's lighter and packs down much smaller, but I prefer the Convert.

So I went with doing a full Nikwax wash and reproofing on my lighter rain jacket and this has worked well enough for now. Going to make do with that for this winter as it shouldn't be to long now.... maybe.

Goretex Paclite going for £45 on CRC. I got one they are cut quite slim. I sized up the same as for a Gore top if that's any use.

I've not used that jacket, but my experience of paclite and shimano kit has been very good. Looks like a possible bargain.

I've slated my goretex paclite jacket for cycling in the past as it just won't breathe fast enough at times, but had a change of heart after the last year when road riding at a more more steady pace in the rain for a number of hours (the storms of the 24th Dec? Grim, but the jacket was worth having then). Paclite is good with the right layers underneath if you're not going so fast, Montane pertex WP stuff seems to breathe better but after a few hrs it gets wet inside. Nothing drastic but the difference is there.
