Ride your bike.
Have fun.
Mix it up.
Remember that no matter what type of training you do your body soon adapts to it. So changing your focus every 6 to 8 weeks is beneficial.
For years I've defied convention and do very little BASE in the winter and gradually build up my endurance rides through the spring. I've had some good results on the back of that and usually turn up to events with the benefit of feeling fresh.
Currently I've mainly been be doing cyclo cross races, training sessions at the velodrome and a night ride. Only adds up to about 7 hours a week. That will be more like 12 to 14 by the summer.
Don't worry too much about it, the human body is amazing. Very few riders are able to push themselves to their physical limits which means that learning to suffer opens up a lot of potential.
I have got a few training rides I'd like to get in before the HT550.
*Pennine Bridleway up to Kirby Stephen and back again (for distance and checking out kit/strategies)
*Lakeland 200 - to try out some pushing
I'll probably try and get those done around Easter time.
