Random contribution, but why are so many folk happy to use massively energy hungry AI systems to produce 'mini me doll' images, just to share on social media? Or crypto??
Answer - education, or lack of.
Reduce should come before renewable. It seems like the growth of 'green energy' has just relegated the importance of reducing consumption

Years ago, I was at some conference or other where someone stated that renewable energy schemes would only work if we reduced power consumption significantly. This was well before someone had the bright idea of running cars off electricity.
The mitigating factor there is that the 5kwh you used to refine a gallon of crude oil into petrol for cars can just go straight into the car.
It would be very hard getting 5kwh into you car without all the infrastructure that runs the length the country from a hydro station or windfarm,😂

Reduce should come before renewable
Its not either or ; reducing and relying on fossil fuels slows damage down but its the equivalent of smoking less cigaregttes or having one packet of biscuits a day and not two. Its a improvement but its not the solution.
That is before we get to the change to electic cars or heat pumps for houses its also unachievable to reduce the need for electricity.

Obvs we should individually reduce but the need for electricity, unless we give up cars and heating our homes in winter, will increase. Given thia renewables or greener solutions are essential.

Yes, but that's already there. It's just directing the 5kwh into a car instead of into a refinery that then uses some of its fuel to shift the rest of the fuel somewhere else.

Just watched this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHNC0_sRvfw - some interesting points/suggestions but no "I've got the answers, why won't they listen to me?"
