Turns out that the sunflower oil out of a tin of tuna is a pretty good substitute. It's OK on the chain aswell as I hadn't got any chain lube either
How many cats were chasing you?!

Only two bike racks so two bikes on the roof and split the rear seats to put the third bike in the back of the car.

Drove 90 minutes to the ride start and realised we'd left the front wheel of the third bike at home when loading the car.

D'oh ,!!!
I took the wheel with me, just I left the through axle on the garden wall when putting the bike in the back of the car...

Thanks all!

Proper Preparation Prevents Provoking Pitfalls when bike Packing

There's always faff but soon you're on your way
Your heart singing and wheels spinning until
A creak or crack does cause your heart to fail
And mind on all that could go wrong to dwell
A broken seat clamp/freehub/chainring/knee
Forgotten lighter/water/wallet/tarp
An unseen branch your headlight does unfree
While, battery flat, your GPS goes dark
The fork bag with your stove floats off downstream
The rock that breaks your fall destroys your phone
Your jockey wheels lubed with factor 50 suncream
Brakes topped up with huile de thon
This time it's a misplaced tool - you're screwed
Trip abandoned, a long push home ensued

Tips welcome on how to make it worse lol
