I think I'm the opposite: I don't like seeing too many vids of any route before I ride it as I like it to be my own experience. I'll lap up words and photos though.

Off the top of my head, of the HT550 vids, I liked Annie Le's Pink Dot one and enjoyed Alex's broken spoke drama too.

For the HT550 you might be better looking for videos of individual sections by day riders or even runner and walkers. I seem to remember one by a group doing the Fisherfield traverse. Torridon is going to have lots.

Not really a fan of most YouTube things as they seem to be all about the fastest, highest, best and mostly paint a picture that they want you to see. Allen’s stuff is pretty good and honest.

Yeah, I'm doing the HT550 ITT this year and found the same. Theres almost no chat or exposition about the route. It's a mixed bag anecdotal vignettes. To be fair, it's hard to showcase 550 miles of some of the most stunning scenery in the world and stay on task!
If you are sufficiently bored, I did do a route guide but it's too long a read to make it into popular social media!

Mate, that was potentially very boring but was actually very good. Some effort the! Cheers :)

Respect to that. The "Blog" is just about dead, folk need "The Vlog" these days with thier limited time and attention span. My blog has died really. I try, but I don't have the time to write something like that entry. If it serves you in catharsis or any other way just keep doing it!
