It's a National Trust campsite Shaf so any noise after 10pm or so is frowned upon. Plus it's February so the usual suspects on that score won't be about.

Amazing, thanks Bob. Pity it won't count towards a BAM!

Just sleep the other side of the wall Shaf, or up the valley a ways, in Mickleden?

This seems unnecessary, particularly in light of the very real fascist threats to people around the world at the moment.

And ( far) right wing types have targetted the national trust for its properties accurately mentioning slavery.as " woke "

Finally i hate those selfish people who think I want to listen to their music ..i dont and this does not make me a Nazi.

Another common alt right tactic is to attack ,with a false claim, rather than even comment on their own behaviour.
People questioned what you said, no one has tried to cancel any of your extreme hyperbole.

They run the campsite with an iron fist I was awoken from my slumber last year at 6.30am by the camp commondant! demanding I woke all of the campers up to remove vast amounts of drying clothing from the shower/toilet block. I decided against that option and cleared it myself dumping it all in the smelly drying room :-) I went back to bed to continue to suffer :-bd

Careless use of a word/term, which I'm certain many of us have used in the past. I agree with you both that recent events make it much more offensive potentially.
Draconian is much more fitting, having been among the rain bedraggled carnage last time.

Jeez, context is everything here. Look at the dictionary definition of the word:
Nazi | ˈnɑːtsi |
noun (plural Nazis)
  • historical a member of the far-right National Socialist German Workers' Party.
  • derogatory a person with extreme racist or authoritarian views.
a person who seeks to impose their views on others in a very autocratic or inflexible way: I learned to be more open and not such a Nazi in the studio.
Even in deepest darkest Langdale, it's unlikely Rich is using the term in its historical sense, but I fully appreciate that people can interpret language in different ways and will adapt my own if I learn it's caused offence.

[addendum/edit: Somewhat ironically, I first started this post saying 'Jeez Guys' which I try not to do as I know that can cause offence.]

In praise of the National Trust, they've agreed to reclassify/create a new stretch of bridleway along the base of Flat Fell near Ennerdale. Used by Wainwright C2C walkers for decades, it wasn't a public RoW and was going to become a footpath. After listening to cyclists and horse riders they've agreed it should be BW :-bd
It forms part of the Lakeland 300 ITT.

Rich, I bought a ticket to ride and to camp but won't be attending. Last week I caught shingles and yesterday I went a bit downhill on my balancing, wobbly on my feet. Even if I am well enough to drive up there is no way I am fit to ride round.
Somewhat annoyed as the summer event I entered, pre covid, I got sick two nights before in a local campsite so that is two failures to make it to the start line.

Let me just put my hand up as a casualty of the JennRideWinter. I've dropped Rich a message telling my intention of being soft. Will ride locally and at least it's my bit of £25 done for the fundraiser :-bd

I love being soft

Cheers guys and gals great weekend and the weather was not bad!
84 lined up out of a possible 100 there might have been more they probably did not sign in!!
Everyone seemed to like the route and the free beer went down very quickly :-)
£1000 raised for St Gemmas Hospice
£500 for Riders Resilience
and the other £700 going to the youth group @ Staveley Village association to fund training a cycling activity coach with British Cycling to lead sessions on the bike ramps and skills set which were purchased in the summer :-)
Many thanks to all that took part and those who entered but were unable to participate but did not ask for a refund there were only a couple.
The summer jennride is in my head and will be published shortly!
Entries are live now though!

Thanks for organising the event Rich!

To mark my lads 10th Bday in Jan and to test his new bike out he dragged me round the Winter Jenn Ride...ive pulled a video together here for anyone interested (its a bit long and probably boring for most)...more for my sentimental value when hes older 😉 and has no interest in his uncool dad!

As Rich put it in a recent post....adventure has no age limit! I'll add to that - "you just need a good attitude"...and thankfully Zack has that in bucket loads!
