Thanks for the honest/useful feedback. I'd be tempted to bring one moto touring, but I don't think it's worth the weight penatly bikepacking if the device is only marginally effective, and just use the usual precautions (namely putting in a bit of effort to go somewhere more midge free/sliht breezey!).

Yeah, I bought mine to use when sitting outside of the campervan when over in Europe.
I now have a USB charging bug zapper (the kind with a bright purple light), but it's far too bulky to bring on the bicycle.
