I have some quite significant hearing loss at some frequencies in my left ear due to a blown off tyre.

The wheel was leaning on a wall which my head was very near. Only one way for the sound waves to go. I felt the wave pass through my head!

Ooft! I have similar from several years of raving :)
I was sat 5 or 6 meters away with close fitting rubber ear buds in so thankfully my ears came through unscathed.

I had one go BANG, whilst trying to get a tubed tyre to seat properly,( I took it up to about 80 psi) my neighbours came running to my shed, they thought I`d shot myself!!
The wife didn`t seem too bothered.
