Re: BB 200 Kit List
I've just packed my bike for the weekend and out of interest weighed my main dry bag, which contains - Sleeping bag, bivvy bag, sleeping mat, tarp inc lines and my homosexual pillow. The all in weight inc dry bag is 1540g or 3.3lb so I'm quite happy with that

Re: BB 200 Kit List
Stu - your offer of a tarp is much appreciated and one I will be taking you up on. Nothing like learning how best to pitch a tarp at night, in the pouring rain, after 12hrs of riding - cannot wait for this.

Re: BB 200 Kit List
Hmm, not all that much in practice, though the weight does begin to add up.
Moonlight bivvy bag (200g)
Balloon bed (80g)
PHD minim bag (350g)
First aid kit (30g)
Tools/pump/tube etc (500g)
Waterproof (270g)
Spare upper layer (170g)
Arm warmers (80g)
Partial frame bag (150g)
Harness (120g)
Sub 2 kg + Food, water, maps, GPS, lights and so on. Depends where you draw the line on what to include or not.
All on the bike, nothing on my back.

Somethimes you really do annoy me Ian. :xthough the weight does begin to add up
Re: BB 200 Kit List
Are you not taking your Ultra vest Ian? Those balloon beds aren't as warm as a Neoair.
No tarp either, that's one stripped out list :)
I'm looking forward to everyone's reports, this is one I can't do, what with a wedding an all :?

Re: BB 200 Kit List
No ultra vest: forecast is 8 degrees so should be OK with just a base layer.
No tarp: I will be picking my spot carefully, but it should be OK.
p.s. good luck with the wedding. You realise that if the BB200 is the same weekend again next year, you'll be looking for a pink pass on your first anniversary?

Re: BB 200 Kit List
I have not weighed it and may make a couple of minor changes but:
I am carrying a Revelate harness and 'twinkie' saddle bag and a Wildcat frame bag with a wingnut on my back.
Harness:
Stove / fuel / ti mug / lighter
Craft l/s baselayer
Warm Craft gloves and leg warmers
Exteondo overshoes (may leave out)
Finisterre Bise gilet
Wet-wipes
Tools, tube, sealant, lube
Cow bell!
Frame bag
Maps and spork in the map pocket
3l bag and 750ml bottle in water pocket
Saddlebag:
Terra Nova bivy bag
Western Mountaineering summerlite sleeping bag
Silk liner, briefs, Ibex merino beanie
Spare batteries, mp3 player, little camp light.
Can of Red Bull or similar.
Wingnut:
Mostly food, with a few toiletries and first-aid kit and camera.
Jersey:
Waterproof and a waterbottle (probably)

Re: BB 200 Kit List
Just weighed mine and it has come out at 4.5kg excluding food, water, mobile, wallet and some toiletries.
Could save about half a kilo but I fancy some hot food and a hot drink. And I understand it is not a race!

Re: BB 200 Kit List
Whole bike* weighs 30.2 lbs using the bathroom scales method.
* that's everything except water in the bottles, so add ~3lbs for two full water bottles.

OH F**K OFF
It would appear I'm going for comfort.

Re: BB 200 Kit List
To be fair, I've made a number of sacrifices in terms of comfort. Not everyone's choice obviously so when you're tucked up in your fluffy sleeping bag laid out on your comfy neoair watching the telly and sipping wine, I could be shivering my backside off somewhere in some dank wood with no prospect of a brew and wishing I'd brought more gear with me, and I do have a slight nagging feeling that I've forgotten something. We'll know by Sunday...

Re: BB 200 Kit List
No wine for me this weekend but I will have my wide screen tele.

I'm still undecided which books to take with me, is James Joyce's Ullysses that difficult?

Re: BB 200 Kit List
Look like some nice kit will be about and about in Wales this weekend. I'm just trying to decide whether to sleep in cycling kit or not...

Re: BB 200 Kit List
Midges have been back this week in North Somerset so I'd expect the little feckers to be out in Mid Wales.

Re: BB 200 Kit List
Cheers Matt, I owe you ... you do realise that Bara Brith has now become an integral part of every event and trip? In years to come when no one can any longer walk let alone pedal, we'll be sat about telling people how we rode over mountains, slept rough for days on end and ate Fantasticmrmatts Bara Brith ... no one'll believe us
