Aye, I'm fairly sure that no thanks are needed from any quarter.I think she should save her energy and just enjoy them. That's nice to hear though.

Ditto.
Glad to hear your plan is having the desired effect.

Pm me the address - I'm sure my kids (one of who has been through lots of chemo, so gets it!) would send a card or 2 full of drawings and nonsense!

Nigel, Mum was overcome by what came through the post today that was amazingly thoughtful. The same to everyone else, you cannot imagine what a difference your messages have made.
The whole family are gathering at Mum's this Sunday and my siblings are going to be in awe of the kindness and thoughtfulness of the "boners", as am I. Thank you all so much.

By my own admission, I probably haven't been in the best frame of mind lately but knowing this ^ and imagining the things people have done, gladdens the heart.you cannot imagine what a difference your messages have made.

{random thought to ponder} ... what makes 'this' extra special is the simple fact that Dave wanted to post it here and presumably thought it would be well received.

1) everyone here is ace
2) Mum doesn't need sympathy she needs little rays of light which is exactly what the type of people here generate through their adventures and daily lives

That's a lovely read Dave. She is very lucky to have you.
Re: A very off topic plea for help
I echo what Borderer says Dave.
If I remember correctly, I first met you when you were doing an awful lot for another person who was seriously ill so you seem to be no stranger to giving your time and effort for the benefit of others.
I wish you, your mother, father, & family all the best through Christmas and the New Year.

We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.

No worries...I'll try another OS/browser. FWIW - it was dropping https on the start that got me the susp. msg.

Re: A very off topic plea for help
Right then ... it's a Bank holiday and no doubt those who aren't dragged kicking and screaming towards IKEA, will perhaps be heading out on their bike or something similar. I thought perhaps while you were out, you might like to pick up a postcard or something and send it to Dave's mum. I'm sure dave will happily let you have her address.
It'll only take a few minutes of your time but might just brighten someones whole day up ... think on

Thanks Stu!
We're moving Mum into a new place soon where hopefully she will be more comfortable and have more care. The letters to date have made a world of difference
