The 'original' wekend is good for me as I'll be childless - any other weekend I'll have to drag the boys along with me.
They'll probably be the height of teenage awkwardness and quite mardy with me as all they want to do is skate at the moment and hang about together not saying much to anyone else... a bit like the twins in the shining...Maybe I'll dress them up specially for the weekend

Don't want to step on Highlander's toes here obviously, but firm hand on the tiller and all that or where would it all end?

(*). As stated by Our Noble Leader on Sept 29th 2016: "Dec 10th / 11th, same as all the others"; Oct 12th 2016: "always on the same weekend... we do it to confuse people

". So owt else would just be A winter bivi

"Wet 'n' smoky" is my recollection of the last Chiltern bivi.
Does Yorkshire welcome interlopers?

16/17th suits me. I may bring a child, but he'll engage you like any other 40 something bikepacker, except he's not keen on whisky.

Yorkshire?

I was going to mention that but then thought, you might easily find yourself across the border if you're able to remove yourselves from the confines of the pub.

I have accidentally found myself outside the warm, stodgy borders of Yorkshire on many an occasion, only to find myself on top of a hill staring blissfully back at Yorkshires beauty wondering why I ever left.
Then I leave as Lancs. is a craphole. But not as much as Greater Manchester where I am now. And it's sunny at home. Bah.
As for interloopers, well they've accepted me....mostly as we bred one of their own.

I think our club Xmas ride is that Saturday, the date rings a (ding-dong-merrily-on-high) bell

We seem to have a Brexit situation for the northern winter bivi - the consensus seems to be that it's wanted . . . But the plans on how it's going to happen are not coming together so easily!
I think we almost got to agreeing that a Yorkshire/peaks event on 'the winter bivi weekend' would work

You need a dictator, nothing of any worth gets achieved through a wishy washy committee

Here in the socialist Republic of south Yorkshire we like a committee. . . Except the one responsible for the tree crisis - they're rubbish

It's high time we took back control from these unelected bureaucrats in Sheffield.

Why don't you all come down to the Chilterns for the weekend and join us at Sam's field. Stu told us when, so we know the date. Reg is navigating, so we know where we're going. The hardest decisions we will have to make is whether to have the pork belly or sirloin.

I had considered it tbh. Wondered how grubby northerners would cope with it though
