None of us want to fit into a category, but sometimes it helps understanding our reasons, beyond adventure and freedom.
We know theres a clear difference between an endurance racer and long distance tourer dispite the physical goal being similar (sometimes appearance too)

Same goes for those of us that prefer the camping, cooking, bivvying and sitting around outside, being quite different from those that love riding a bike places, simply seeing a bivvy as a means to go beyond 24hours. Again, sometimes its hard to notice the difference.

Background sometimes helps, some of us are cyclists that discover a bivvy while other are hikers/climbers that stubble upon 2 wheeled travel. This has an effect. Same goes for competitive versus non, even if the only competition is yourself.

Reading stus comment however has left me with much contemplation. Im not normally this sentimental but i kinda took it to heart. In the most positive of ways ofcourse. I think thats going to stick with me for some time
