New Deore brakes from CRC. Ordered yesterday lunch, arrived today! Cracking service.
Just waiting on the rotors from Ribble Cycles as it was the only place I could find the 180mm RT66 rotors.

Wildcat Lioness to complement the seat pack and bar harness. Need to try it this weekend if I can get an overnight pass.
And a moisture meter for testing levels in logs now we have a woodburner.

A pair of carbon OG bars, although they may be a little too wide so look out for a what saw for chopping carbon bars thread soon.
Also, finally had the stitches out from my hip and been given the all clear to ride again, that will be a novelty.

I find the Carbon OG bars perfect as they are, and I do not like over wide bars. So comfy I bought a second set for my other bike straight away. Very similar to Mary Bars, just less vibration coming through. Rotational position of the bars is key to getting perfectly comfortable.

I've been good this week 'just' a XT cassette

Ooooow tell a lie there was the CK headset and the Park CC-3.2 chain wear indicator, but that's it.

Postie delivered (on thurs) some new XT Disc Brakes to replace my ageing Hope Tech/x2 brakes, which are spongy, and boil far too easily on long steep hills. Fitted on Friday, and did 60 miles on them yesterday, single finger braking, what a novelty! So powerful, no fade. I'm converted. Hope is over-rated just because it's British, doesn't mean it's any good!

Having fitted my pre bled brakes this morning I'm a bit frustrated that I will have to bleed them as there is too much travel on the lever. Guess my expectations for the brakes was too high.
The brakes do work very well though I very happy with them. Just have always had problems when bleeding brakes or shortening cables.

Have you tried adjusting the screw on the lever?

I've been troubled with a certain numbness in the erm.. down there... if you get my drift, ever since I restarted riding some 6 years ago. This year, my Lady has treated me to a Selle Italia saddle with a strategically placed hole in it. The local bike shop has a free measuring service for bums (if you then buy the saddle, that is) which recommended this:-

I've tried it on a couple of 2 hour rides now and where before I'd have to stand up every 15 minutes or so to allow my parts to recover, in neither ride did I have to do this. Result! Now, if I'd had to buy the thing myself (£85 after some discount) I would still be standing up, but as it's a present, I'm very happy with it.

WHHHOOOOOOAAAA! there, it's taken me 5 years to get to 29....
29+ may be toyed with in 2020 but until then I think I'll bob a set of 2.2-2.4 something on it, depends whats cheap
Whats a decent all rounder tyre?
Rims wise, got a front off Kev, not sure what it is, and a Stans Crest on HopeII of Gairy.

One of these. Not for any of my bikes but one of the kids I coach. His mum had to get his sister to hockey so I said Id bring him home. I put my and my son's bikes on the rear rack, the lad's bike went on the roof. We piled into the car, cracked open the biscuit tin and off we went. Everything was fine for about 10 seconds, which was when we went under the woodland car park height barrier. The noise of his rim shattering was matched only by the sound of the rack splintering. He was very mature about it all. Barely squeaked. Im getting a van on Friday.
