Finished dinner (or 'tea' rather) a while ago. I'm sure you can picture the scene: enormously long thin table - quite a few yards long probably - Reg at one end, Mrs Perrin at the other. Complete silence apart from gentle clatter of cutlery, etc. One candle on in the middle.

All done. Now what. Mrs Perrin: "go and amuse yourself and stop annoying me". Reg: "yes dear".

Hmm. Twiddles thumbs for a bit. Sigh.

Loose end? Go and play with the StuStoves!

Get all three out, 8g, 12g, 22g, and line them up. Baby bear[stove], mummy bear[stove], daddy bear[stove]. (Limited Edition 18g one is stored)

May as well prep for next week's BaM. Not used mummy stove for a while so let's try that.

Mrs Perrin's draining board, don't tell her please. 18ml bioethanol (vodka bottle empty) in 12g stove, 500ml Toaks Ti pot with 400ml cold water. Ambient temperature 15degC. No wind, no windbreak.

Set fire to it. Bloom time 1 mins 14 secs. Pot on, lid on. Rolling boil almost exactly 10 mins. Use water to wash dinner plates.



Lovely bit of gear. Although I do think it's quite a lot more susceptible to draughts than the 22g even with a windbreak - had it go out on me a few times when out in the field.

Complete cookset and 2 breakfasts of porridge and ovaltine all fit in the pot and weigh exactly 300g excluding water - Ti pot, Ti windbreak, Morrisons 350g tomato and pasta sauce bowl/mug, card/foil stove pad, Ti spoon, 12g stove, 12 matches (only need 2 really ), 36ml fuel, ovaltine and porage.



Now what. (thumb twiddling etc etc).

Cheery Friday.... Annoyed Sunday. For some reason Daily Hatemail headlines appear when I open a new google window. Today's: "Cyclists use middle of the road for the first time under new Highway Code".

Bloody hellfire. Firstly, for years we've been advised to do that whenever we feel '1m from the kerb' doesn't keep us in a 'safe' enough position, eg when passing minor roads or coming up to junctions or traversing roundabouts etc. In built up areas it's almost a constant. Bikeability has been teaching that for over ten years.

And secondly it's not middle of the bloody road it's middle of the lane. Plainly they've chosen 'road' on purpose since it comes across as far more inflammatory than 'lane'.

Decided to give the newish Gurkha takeaway at Brecon Golf club a go (open six days a week from lunchtime onwards, if you're passing, just saying...).

It was stonking.

Belly busting, taste buds exploding, mouth on fire kind of stonking, highly recommend.

Turned out to be a father daughter outfit living in our street.

Now that on it's own isn't my reason for cheeriness, but it reminded me that on the Gower trip last year we spotted her, and her camper van (Susan) in the background and they were filming.

Missed the Slovenia discussion last week. We went a few years ago. Fantastic country. We travelled around a lot (basically a big lap of the country) but you'd need a car for that, and for most trips for that matter.

Bohinj was lovely. We went through the tunnel on the car-train to the Soça valley, which was fun, and the Soca is beautiful, well worth it if you can get there, either via the tunnel or the Vrsic pass. Can recommend an amazing little bar in Kobarid where the owner produced a wheel of local cheese that had been maturing and offered it round the bar

... from where you are I'd probably try to explore more of Triglav national park... . You're not far from Bled, which is the tourist honeypot to end all honeypots, but it's worth a look - maybe if you can get there early in the morning for a couple of hours.

We stayed at a "tourist farm" - a farm that hosts visitors, not where they grow tourists! - and the food was absolutely incredible....

last week the missus/mrs LB says check the smart meter, (I can't) read the number are flashing all over the place. turns out it was rolling quickly through all the reading. the E'lectrickerty provider refused accept meter teading through the app. the smart meter reads but is not online. finally the accepted the reading.
we have gone from £700 debit to £140 credit*. it might have cheer me up. but the meter not line after reporting it 3 days ago they have run diagnostic & 'restarted it'... on site visit required...
*criminal where they get usage estimations, from to boost Direct Debits..
