Yeah Halo tyres .. Just awaiting a rear halo hub eventually but think that will be built onto a 650b rim for a summer build.

Insurance complete, went with Sports Cover basic (in the hope my bike doesn't go missing), EHIC card filled in and added myself to the donors list whilst I was at it. All in all, a success night

I've decided that tubeless on the fatty might be a higher level of faff than I want to be dealing with in the Arctic. Have swapped out the standard tubes (2.5-2.7 width) with Schwalbe SV13F (2.5-3.0) and saved 400gms.......from each wheel!

I also particularly like how the two pushers seem to be on slightly different lines.
Both probably moved aside thinking "this isnt the bloody trail" both probably eying each others line thinking "is it easier over there"

At least that's how it always seems to me. Not that I often change back....

Anyone packed yet? Just threw a few items that I'll probably only use for the race into a 100L TNF duffle bag Think I'm going to need two bags to get all my kit in, or wear several very warm layers in the airport!

Got a bit of a dry run planned this weekend. Going to have a pop at the TCW - Dyfi Junction to Knighton.

Been trying to figure out the best way to pack my sleeping bag on the bike. Tried
a) by itself in a 20l dry bag
b) by itself in a 35l dry bag
c) wrapped in the bivi bag and into a 35l dry bag
d) wrapped in the bivi bag and straight into my wildcat bar harness

Option a is a tight squeeze in the house and the sleeping bag creates a vacuum, making it difficult to get out. Probably not real-world friendly. Option b works but it a tad bulky and option c just wouldn't work dispute the dry bag being big enough, impossible to stuff both down. Yet to try option d!

Going to try a dry setup this week and then commute to work to iron out any problems, which looking at the forecasts, tomorrow would be a sensible day

Id go with option b. but before you roll the top down kneel on it and make it more sausage shaped.

I'd be tempted by D so long as you can seal in the open end, it's only one night (hopefully)! Anything to reduce the faff factor when you're knackered and it's super cold. Maybe just wrap in a bin bag?

Have you tried stuffing the sleeping bag in a spiral fashion, pushing it to the outside of the bag and finishing in the middle? Makes removal a bit easier.

I have a jumbo thermarest one that has a valve in the end to use for inflating a neoair, it would also allow you to vent in this scenario.

I've tried those eVent type bags in the past but I've found that they start to inflate after a while!

Option D is my preference as my bivi (Rab eVent) will fasten at the top and if there is any precipitation, it should be snow, so very unlikely to wet the bag out. Although now thinking about it, the above comment about eVent dry-bags inflating may catch me out.

Option B is the tried and tested method for all my bivi trips, so I'll probably end up using that. If my normal wildcat harness doesn't work, I'll give you a shout Ian and I'll take up your very kind offer. Rest of the kit is in panniers, which will make packing easy but heavy! Not thought of the spiral stuffing method, I'll give it a go
