Post Leadville binge eating / drinking done with... trying to sort myself out this week so that I can get ready for the BB300. Struggling to train though, motivation really low and legs don't feel like they have anything in them.

(My own fault for daring to take a week off)

I just went right back to my first entry on this thread. 2019, and I weighed in at 85.2kg. Not sure if I managed to get that straight after toilet duties on a morning, but I suppose I'm not doing too bad looking at it like that. Been down to about 80kg (during the Covid year I think), so best keep working at it.

After seeing a podcast, went and found one of his older books. Gonna start reading it soon and might just help. First glimpse looks fantastic.

Sorry to hear that Rich. Hope all gets sorted soon. After watching that podcast with Moodi I think I'm gonna reduce my meat intake to just 2 days a week. Really reckon it'll help alot.

Cheers buddy. Right now I'm barely holding on to any sort of vaguely appropriate diet. Certainly not the right time for me to aim for perfection.

Sorry to hear this Rich. The diet can go to hell. Just getting through life's stresses is far more important. I found ODAAT really is the way.... One Day At A Time. This too will pass. If you ever need to vent, talk sh1t through, whatever, people are here. Me included. We don't know each other. That can make venting easier.

Thanks. I'm sure I'll manage to deal with it eventually, ODAAT makes sense right now as longer term goals seem... unrealistic.

Well here's my story for anyone interested.
Was really active, cycling , paragliding, walking etc.
A few twists and turns and I gained some weight, I was 80kg until 2008 ish then started to gain weight, just incrementally, slowly slowly.
then in 2013 moved to the US, with my wife's job, didn't want to go but did, mentally I suffered massively, gave up my career here, couldn't work there, my wife worked long hours, hardly saw her, didn't have any friends there and lost friends here, long and short, gained 9 stones in 6 years. Almost 25.5 st at my heaviest.
Cycled hard and did some Keto, got back to 20st, doing keto I noticed some bowel changes, being an ex nurse I got it looked into, my Pancreas can no longer produce enough enzymes to digest fat, the reason, when your body fat storage is exceeded your body will store fat in your organs, namely, liver, and in my case , pancreas. The fat cells replace the cells that produce the fat digesting enzymes.
This condition is called PEI ( Pancreatic Exocrine Insufficiency ) it is not known if it can be reversed with weight loss like fatty liver can.
I am now trying to lose weight but more steadily, anyone who says you can be obese and healthy is deluded, I now have to take digestive enzymes with every meal, without them I would be in big trouble.
Honestly, it's the mental aspect that did for me, isolation, loneliness, loss of purpose and identity, it's quite literally a killer.
Just thought I would share my pennies worth
Oh and I can't drink alcohol anymore, which is a real bummer

Thanks for sharing that Catrike. Me, I'm constantly trying to fend off the pounds. Thanks to this thread and the compulsory fasting during ramadhan (some people actually gain weight as they eat excess when not in the fasting hours), I've just about managed to stay below 90kg.

Also a nurse, got perimyocarditis with heart failure in 2018 or 2017. All/mostly smoking related and vaping but plenty linked to overeating too. Couldn't breath, quit the nasty habit. Then the next 5 or 6 years (last serious chest infection ended Jan 2023) I managed at least 2 to 3 chest infections yearly.

Add to that the Covid years and being an active member of the team. I'm pretty sure if I didn't keep looking at my waistline and trying to grapple it back I'd be seriously screwed over. I definitely am a firm believer that eating to manage stress isn't the answer. I used to smoke to do that and look where it got me (now after about 5 hours of exercise/riding, though a bit extreme).

Have eaten in the past to manage stress etc (probably a strong term) and I know from my smoking cessation days, it's not the answer. Though I'm not trying to influence, more a reminder to myself.

Still eating a bit poorly but thankfully manage to keep in check somewhat. May God make things work out well for us all...

Sorry to hear that story Catrike! Still in the States? How's that going? Improved?
Everyone's journey is different.
Mine's never been dramatic, been up to 17st 10 lb a few years ago, hit 50 and decided I wasn't going to be fat'n'50, did keto , got to 14st 2lb. From there I wafted back to 15st 10lb now can't seem to get below 15st 2lb
I'm veggie so we tend to cook from scratch most days.
I like a beer (usually two) a night. I know stopping these would help the weight, if not the wellbeing.

Lets hope the weight loss helps the diagnosis fella!!

Hi Thanks,
No I left the States, before I totally lost my mind, the story is too long but the American dream, turned into a nightmare, to be honest I still haven't recovered.
I gave up a very well paid career, when I came back I couldn't get back in, over 50 employment opportunities disappear so I retrained as a Cytech Cycle mechanic got a job doing that, then started my own business that was finally killed by Brexit, I have applied for hundreds of jobs, either over qualified or looking for a different
( see cheaper ) candidate
But all that said I really believe cycling keeps me going :-bd

Started intermittent (with plain water) fasting today (9th Sept). Hopefully it helps shift the belly and drop a good few kilos that I needn't carry on the BB200.

Day1 - 9th Sept end of 18:4 fast = 86.3kg

The fact that your weighed in, means you're halfway there. That's what I thinks anyway.

Day 2 - 10th Sept = 86.0kg
Day 2 - 11th Sept = 85.7kg

Slow going but maybe it's working. Went from the carbon Travis forks at 800g to some Rockshox Sids at about 1600g. Means that I have about 1kg minimal to get off of my body to hopefully break even.

Just some quick maths and it seems like and average of 300g per day being lost. Wonder why I didn't lose more due to the 26 mile walk 2 days ago. Maybe eaten too much after whilst replacing the stores.

Extra good news is that the wife says I'm looking slimmer (she hardly says that). All (to) praise God.

it would appear that tooth ache followed by tooth extraction is a great weight loss regime - lost over 2kg in 5 days. (75.85 to 73.4) I'm not sure I'd recommend it though.

I'm gonna guesstimate you never took any pain killers Paul. Naughty, not hard! Bloomin ek.

I turned light on after the first unit. Closed the curtains and continued. Then jumped into bed after turning off lights. He just came back in seems to have and ripped the curtains open. Enough to make you want an angry farmy in a cow-sub standard strewn field!

Anyway, yes. You should take the pain killers pls Paul... Heehee, sorry to insult the intelligence.

26.18 Rich. Ran the last mile to make the dental appointment. No food throughout, just water. Wasn't clever doing the running bit but I made the appointment by 10 seconds. :- )
