You in the field yet Rich? I’m in the corner, Silver CMax, blue tent. Might head down to the brewery in a bit.

I'm at the Eagle and Child. Will be heading back to the brewery about 19:30.

No, she hit the main road and rolled down to the start of that bit of singletrack. Caught up with Ton on the way up to Garburn and rode with him until just after Borrans.

Good to hear.
In unrelated news, whilst I didn't feel them at the time, it seems I'm absolutely covered in midge bites. EVERYTHING ITCHES SO MUCH, I WANT TO REMOVE MY OWN SKIN!!!!

I hear they do prefer a bit of soft Welsh skin

Was wondering why I'm itch free
Good to pedal with you and hope your journey back was painless.

You too, and ironically, no... my car stopped recognising my car key when I stopped in the services about an hour down the M6.
No keyhole, so no drive!

Are there any public photo albums online anywhere for this? I'd quite like to show a few friends the area and as usual I didn't take a lot of pics.

I have posted a few on the #jennride thread on singletrack. I have quite a few more from the ride that I could share somewhere if you want.

Cheers, those are good. A few more from others over there too.
Obviously Rich and his helpers are responsible for a ton of footage too so hopefully we'll see that at some point.

I'll be there on the blatantly overbiked 160mm Orange alpine...
Oh, and quoting to say hi to elliptic, who we joined for our evening meal.

Hi Rich - good to meet you guys too.
And I'm standing by the bike choice, respect to anyone riding rigid or

drop bars that got round with an intact sense of humour!

In fairness, our motley little group had all combos of carbon, ti, steel and ally with rigid, hardtail and full bounce options - I don't think there was a clear winner for the whole ride, though some bikes clearly work better for some bits
I love all the rocks in the lakes, you don't really get that down here so it makes a really nice change

I was riding on dropbars, great big ones set high. They were fine. The Fargo just keeps giving

But I've never seen you smile so much as when you got off my Bat Fastard after your spin around Ambleside on it

Thanks and no it goes in a bladder in the frame bag with a pipe up to the handlebar

What is the capacity of the bladder?
This was my first bikepacking trip and I wanted to do it as self supported as possible but my main concern was water. I carried all of the food I needed and did not to buy any along the way.
I had a 1.5l alpikit hip pack plus a few water bottles stashed here and there. I bought a couple of litres in the Coniston garage and stumbled across a tap in the Christian Centre just before Ambleside on Sunday morning.
I could not fit a large frame bag like that to my bike.

1.5ltrs in this one.
I find that it's all I need in the lakes or Wales, unless it's a heatwave.
Take a water filter for emergencies, buy water from shops, pubs and cafes do free top ups if you buy stuff in there as do shops too and don't be afraid to knock on a door when you really need water.
