Plotting your own route is half the fun :D
If you know where all the GR's are its like one big game of join the dots. Some of these dots should be straight forward to connect, so others a little more difficult. One you've connected a couple you can start to build a full route.
Forest tracks are good, but anything which is marked as a bridleway is work a look on google earth to see what its like. It may exist, it may not. Dont fear the roads either, as it's enavatable that they'll come in handy at some point.
Riding longer gets you further than riding fast, so back of the pace a bit and dont be afraid to get off an push once in a while. An average of 5mph is what i generally plan on and gives you loads of time to take in the views, check the map and stop for a brew.
If you're really stuck PM me and i'll see if i can sort something out

Hi Arthur, I think there is an error in my Google map on the light points.
Need to double check it
Sorry

Hey Stu (and others!)..
If you've got handy planned routes that you could email me also, it would be great to have a look! Aidster has been planning a route which I'm happy to follow but I've barely looked at a map and would quite like to. Routes you've got might help with alternative options at least.
And to think I spent a year at Uni in Aberystwyth but have only ridden around there once, at Nant-yr-Arian.
Mail to chrisjgoodman at gmail dot com.
Thanks!

Out for a brief ride tonight loaded up to ensure im comfortable carrying everything including food. Riding solo now as my friend has had to pull out :D makes it that little bit more of an adventure!

Good idea, I've been warming up too - I'm already in Wales, doing a three week bikepacking tour from Llandudno down to Pembrokeshire and possibly out to England via Cardiff and Monmouth, visiting friends and doing the WRT along the way.
I carry my piano tuning and repair tools with me in case there are any pianos en route that need attention, just let me know.
Right now I'm up in Snowdonia, slowly descending on the WRT...

Richard (piano tuner), that sounds like a great trip. Adding the WRT is a nice touch...
I went to the pub with my fellow WRT companion last night and had a look at maps and plotted the route. Great way to build up to the WRT. Kit is laid out ready, I just need to see what I can get in my bags! Anything else is being left behind.
Hoping the weather stays dry...
