Over trousers?
What sort of girly man are you? I've got shorts... and that's it. Not even waterproof shorts.

A southerner

They are insurance, if I carry them it won't rain and only weigh 190g. As for girly, they are actually Alpkit Parallax but womens in a size 12 as they were out of stock of the mens medium, look the same to me but listed as 5g lighter

That's like... a chocolate bar or something!
But yeah, I'll be going as light as I can because I'm carrying some "I went a bit far in Amsterdam" weight that I can't seem to get off.

Lurking cold symptoms - check
First ride on self-built back wheel - check
Tired drivetrain and slightly wobbly bottom bracket - check
General lack of riding fitness - check
What could possibly go wrong?
Actually, I'm getting excited now

Does that come with pretty colours/fish-eye vision that won't go away when the sun goes down?

I spoke to a very nice lady at the Star Inn yesterday to explain why a parcel had arrived there from Wiggle unannounced (another story

) and she was mentioning unheard of figures like 25C
Could be that my warm weather training over the last 6 weeks will pay off

Wet weather training

Hot weather training
I also took advantage of the call to book the last twin bedded room at the Star

Happy to share if someone doesn't mind a suntanned and jet lagged fellow boner

Just need to get out of Africa in time

Doesn't the wifi reach the poolside bar at this hotel?
Just seen this and it did marginally. Which was better than my chalet where it only worked at around 2 am

If you're still cycling Monday you have bigger problems.

Bugger, they told me they were fully booked!! I'm at the tree lodge place now with some other mystery bikers.

I have wheels and handlebars on my bike!
I don't know if my brakes work yet... and I haven't fitted any lights.

I've had to take mine apart again to get it in the car
Going to be 3 adults, bike, kit and the wife and her brother's luggage in a Toyota Yaris

only a five hour drive once I get off the ferry in Lymington, so after that I'll be itching to get out in the countryside on the bike
Bob, what are these strategies you speak of? My only plan is to keep following the pink line on the garmin until I get back to where I started, all the rest I'll make up as I go along

Jelly babies packed
Flapjacks made.
Super high calorie baps made.
Bike lights tested.
GPS tested
Clothes decided upon and packed.
Spare bibs for Zippy packed.
A bucket of snot expelled from nose.
Maybe should have looked at the route? All I know is that I need to be at Elan Valley by 4pm'ish.
Can't Wait!

I'm going to be putting my bibs on Saturday morning and then getting in the car!
Otherwise ditto to the quoted bit.
I've just tested the bike by pootling up to where I park my car (100metres), seems OK...! Packing tomorrow evening...
I have however bought my food supplies.
Looking forward to it. If I feel like death when I arrive on sat, I might actually pack my rollmat so I can stop and sleep end route...

Five hours in a Yaris, yikes!
I've got a 250 mile drive to the start...hoping for a sub 4 hour door to door including stopping at maccyD's for brekky on the way.

I'm driving up tomorrow (Friday) so I'll have time to recover. Luxury compared to my Landrover, at least I won't need to wear ear defenders

Goddamnit to sh*t.
I might not be coming. My pedal wont go in, and if I put any pressure on it, it's tearing apart the insides of the crank.
Why the hell would you make the bit you can't easily replace out of such soft metal?

Update... threaded the pedal in from the other side. Goes in fine, but hasn't helped the situation at all.
I need a pedal with a stupidly long thread or something. Why can't things just be simple? :(

Flying in from Las Vegas and then a drive down from Manchester airport. Does that win a prize?
Car is packed with bike and nearly all of my kit. Just a stop at Newtown Tesco for food on the way in
