If it's for your Giant ignore me obviously.

15mm for the Giant with an adaptor to reduce to 9mm quick release to fit the Fargo fork.

Make sure you measure the adaptor first. The hubs are not 100 mm wide but the adapters are!

Mine was turned down by the good fellows at 18 bikes. Before that the hub wasn't clamped and the connector span round veeeery slowly and ripped the cable out.

I looked at that earlier and it does seem to sit a gnats wider than the hub.

Best way of shortening it?

Finally got a delivery from the States yesterday. I doubled up between Enlightened's sale and a request to Brandon at Warbonnet so yesterday received a lovely 3/4s lynx UQ with 1oz overstuff.

The adaptor sit's slightly proud of the hub so the forks don't clamp the hub correctly allowing the connector to rotate which eventually pulled the wires out of the plug in the hub.
All it requires is a couple of minutes and a lathe to turn the adaptor down about .5mm.
Not a big problem.

Hmm I have no lathe to hand, I wonder if the QR adaptors for my other 15mm hub will fit. I guess they should.

Just hit 'em with a file ... even the most inept should be able to file .5mm off a spacer and keep it flat

That's a more concise explanation than I could manage. The adaptor is 100mm exactly whilst the hub is 99.8mm it took me a while to figure it out...

Ok, so I understand this properly (it might be important later on...), the adapter goes right through the hub, unlike the Hope ones which are just caps in the end of the hole. The adapter bit is too long, so take a bit off (file or lathe) the end and it's all good?
It would probably be clearer if I knew what the adapter looked like, then might have understood betterer.

The postie brought me 8 phenolic pistons for my ailing Hope Mono M4 brakes - carefully de-siezed just prior to There 'n' back by Stu (and ta muchly for your hard work dude), but now stuck solid again in the garage...

Also picked up one of those Hoep ceramic BB's from Halfords on Monday. The 83mm shell is a bit short for the Puffin though, but no matter as the EBB is effectively sealed from water ingress except through the bearings themselves. We'll see if the Hope bearings last more than 120 miles before sounding rough like the bog-standard ones in there at the moment did :?

Did you get a seal kit as well? Whilst you're swooping pistons its worthwhile. Trust you've also got the tool / a plan to get the bite caps out? Are the M4s the ones that have two sizes per caliper

Seal kits are arriving separately courtesy of slarge (thanks buddy). I have the tools too and some special rubber-based grease that hydraulic fluid doesn't dissolve, so it'll be a proper job 8-)

I nearly pulled the trigger on some XTR trail disc brakes, but at a tenth of the cost plus some workshop time, 8 round bits of plastic seemed easier to justify...

Seal kits for me too. Fork ones from RWC though.


If you do change your mind ian, the XT's perform that same (as much as I can tell) for a fraction of the cost of xtr's
I have 2 sets of XT's, both are excellent and have been for some time now.

Not that I dont want XTR too though...
