Had another look at this and realised it comes with two straps, so not actually as expensive as I originally thought

Seems to be the coming thing. On the face of it, I quite like the idea as I tend to alter pressures quite a lot on the fatty. One more thing to charge up, obviously, and you'd still need a normal pump as a back up I 'spose.

I've got a rockbros one. I'm not fussed about having a gauge as I always do the squeeze test. I'll carry it as well as a pump, it's nice to have when sorting a foul weather or roadside flat.

I like that a lot, that’s the sort of thing I’m after and hopefully it won’t be silly money either as I do find Topeak good for quality to cost

Restrap have a similar looking rack in their prototypes, really keen on seeing their version too.

Indeed, looks very interesting. I think a minimal rack with cargo mounts and platform for a dry bag is a great thing. I've been thinking about it for a while. I don't have rack mounts so have been biding my time. Axle mounting seems to be the way to go for compatibility, and neatness and speed of attachment/removal. I know the latest Ortlieb quick racks have them but are delayed.
The topeak rack looks very much inspired by tailfin, which is no bad thing! Plus interesting it looks to have adjustable legs and axle or seatstay strap mount options. Be interested to see the cost and weight when it comes out, but looks very well thought out with quick release rack top attachments too.

Seems to be a shift (back) towards rear racks, albeit more minimal ones, at the expense of seatbags (or maybe just the big ones). I can understand why given dropper clearance and greater stability/weight distribution, and ease of packing/unpacking and removal.

I've made that move and have zero regrets. Went for the Old Man Mountain Elkhorn, which isn't as minimal or QR as some, but rock solid and still easy to mount and remove.

I think the only thing to be wary of, depending on what terrain your riding, is sticking too much weight on it/over the back wheel. I've got the matching mini panniers for mine, but with dry bag and those it'd be all too easy to go full-on road touring setup and so less than ideal on the rowdy stuff.

I guess Eurobike means there are plenty of fresh things:

- Restrap email announcing their new Switch mount in collaboration with hiplock, and mini panniers based on the new mount. Looks interesting, though it's only 2 bolts not 3 (max 1.5kg per mount), the profile is quite chunky, and the pannier bag has a small looking rear mount plate that looks like it might wobble (though i'm sure they tested for that.
- Exciting one for me: New Rockshox Reba Gold fork (only one model available aftermarket), with new damper and spring, and most importantly 35mm stanchions! Think it weighs 1750g which is pretty good, and RRP of £485. I've always been a fan of Rebas for their simplicity and lack of frills - i'm a simpleton when it comes to forks and I have no interest in tuning and refinements. With 35mm tubes it'll be ideal for XC and trail riding, and it is a decently cheaper than even a basic 35mm SID, tyre clearance will hopefully be decent too. I've an older reba that struggles with the height of a 2.6 tyre.
