You can have extra beer afterwards for riding a CX bike

Fantastic, big respect for that!
I was looking at pictures of Jacobs Ladder earlier and worried that a rigid 29er may not be ideal, but I feel slightly better now!
Packed nice and light as well - are you able to change gear alright with that harness there? I struggled with that when I put one on my cross bike once...

I'm hoping the pub won't yet be open when I get back.

I've ridden down it on this bike before, there are a couple of bits which are quite sketchy though, I'll probably walk some bits. Cave Dale will involve some walking also.
The harness is a conventional framed barbag.it weighs more than a drybag setup, but I can get food out of it while I'm riding along which will save time.
It sits clear of the shifters.
Need to add a bit of food to the load, but so far it weighs around 24lbs.

Nice! Mine's 40lb including food but not water. Was 36 lb before I started strapping anything do it!
Only recently got this as my first 29er and pretty shocked by the weight of the thing...

I'm just aiming for a finish! If I don't talk much it's not me being rude, I just can't pedal and talk at the same time.

Ready to Roll.
33lb that's everything apart from my water bottle. Food all packed on the bike

.
Forecast looks like progressively getting worse over the weekend...
Half thinking about starting tomorrow evening/night? 10pm? But would prefer to start together... What's everyone else thinking?

What are people's ride plans?
Bivy, riding through? Long first day, shorter second? Go fast, have a longer sleep?

I'm taking bivi kit (no cooking stuff though) aiming for a long slow first day. Hoping to finish off with fish and chips in Bakewell before an overnight in the woods south west of Chatsworth house.

I have to get round in a oner because I've only got a SOL emergency bivvy bag and a light down jacket!
Don't fancy sleeping out in that.
Also means I'll get to collapse on the sofa at home and watch the Tour of Flanders afterwards

Dave, thinking hardtail rather than fully rigid at the mo. Wrists haven't recovered from following you and Ian down Jacobs ladder a couple of months ago on the fortitude!
