Re: Virtual BAM ... you know you want to
Ok so Ive just read through all the posts that point to some confusion about when the show starts. It's 7pm tonight. Not far off.
I've stuck my big tarp up for the occasion, dragged a few concrete blocks next to it to stand the fire pit on, and chopped up a bizzillion kg of wood for the biggest hottest most stupid fire Ive ever had in my fire pit ever. I swear, if there are still folk up there in International Space Station, they will see my fire as they pass over.

Re: Virtual BAM ... you know you want to

Managed to find a nice little sheltered Bivvy spot,

My son John will be joining me do another Bivvy, the lack of hills and WiFi swung it

Enjoy it everyone. I was very tempted to join you but I've an ailing wife and she really wouldn't appreciate me being out of earshot for a few hours at the moment (normally she's keen to get rid of me

Re: Virtual BAM ... you know you want to
I think I may be overthinking all this ... staring to worry I might need more wood (oooo ,,,, eeer)
Anyhoo, my cat has spent the afternoon sat in my deck chair, enjoying the sun. I've just woken up from an hour long nap in my hammock. I lay down in it to check the dangle angle and .......... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Seriously, if you struggle to sleep while camped out and have not tried a hammock, just bloody do it. So comfy.

Re: Virtual BAM ... you know you want to
Great stuff i will be joining you in spirit but not technologically if I am lucky I just about get a mobile signal and WiFi doesn't extend to the outside .
As Tim is attempting to get the attention of the space station I am going to assume that a humble chimnea will be within the new rules , I just happen to know of a spot with an old bench and a chimnea that I could probably get away with using .
Right better get the bike packed and set off have.a great evening everyone

Re: Virtual BAM ... you know you want to
I've packed my stuff, even though I could take as much as I wanted to I've packed it so it could in theory go on the bike. Less kit than usual required as I can start out already dressed in my bivi clothes, no sleeping in rolled down bibs for me for a change
I've also packed some company as Jane declined my offer of a backyard bivi, perhaps she miss-heard me? no sniggering Reg
I'm even going to record it on the Garmin, which I do now as it will log the temperature and I can then see how cold it was and if the chosen kit was warm enough. The rucksack is empty ready for the cooking kit etc. and the tarp, mat, bivi bag and sleeping are all in the dry bag ready.

I then put the tarp up ready as well. When I was messing about with it yesterday I spent an hour putting it up and taking down and trying different pole lengths etc. and never go a pitch I was 100% happy with. I thought at the time that it was ridiculus as on Dartmoor I managed a perfectly adequate pitch (it didn't fall down) in the dark and in strong wind, after drinking 2 pints at the pub and on ground where it was quite hard to get a peg in. So today I just reverted to following the instructions that came with it.... 2 minutes later and it's done

I did actually do 3 laps of the garden on the Spearfish earlier but I was told to stop when I nearly came off trying to wheelie
I'll most likely have my dinner, watch a bit of telly and then head out later after dark, which is just like my normal BAMs. Good luck everybody

Re: Virtual BAM ... you know you want to
Over-tired kids can't cope with camping out (I can't cope with them more like).
So will be heading out after bedtime. Theirs not mine!

I'm pitched. Facing the corner of the garden. I sleep with the doors open so don't fancy the neighbours gorping and my sleep face.

Re: Virtual BAM ... you know you want to
Right. Total fail. I've no idea why it was asking for a password as I did exactly the same thing earlier in the week when i tested the thing. What is very odd, is that it was asking participants for a password, but it never asked me to make one.
Which is shiteybumarsefuckityshit
Reg and I managed a call and you missed his book shelf and lovely lamp. And I had a seriously lovely fire going.
So folks, can ya post up pix and lets try again in May

Never mind, by the way my son says camping in the garden is silly. He’s still doing it. Makes me proud it does.
